The ripe that convinced me
"The first ripe pu erh to really impress me. Some nice dry fruit notes that come out around the 2nd or 3rd brew. A bit nutty and very mellow and easy to love. Has got me looking for my next ripe pu erh cake!"

Very comforting aroma and taste
"I got a sample of this as part of the intro to Pu’erh tea sampler and so far it’s the first one I’ve tried, and I have to say I really love it. Starts off with a bit of seaweed-y smell which I don’t mind, I actually kind of like. When brewed the aroma turns chocolatey and a bit mushroomy, overall a very deep and comforting aroma throughout my sipping. The taste is extremely smooth, no astringency or dry mouth feel to speak of. Very earthy. I chose a good one to start with!"

Make friends with this horse
"This puerh has a Very clean, earthy, hearty flavor ("earthy" and "clean" sounds like a contradiction, but if you know puerh you know what I mean!). There's a touch of pleasantly tingling bitterness. Depending on how you brew it, it can be a very dark, nearly opaque color or a clear reddish-brown. It has a medium light body. Effects are gently calming, perhaps with some energy creeping in later in the session. Easy on the stomach. At this price it's a strong buy!"

Great tea!
"What a delightful ripe puerh this is. At six years, there is no wet pile taste to speak of. Starting with the second steep, the tea gave off a wonderful roasted mushroom aroma and a chocolate-tree bark taste. In a way, it's a classic shou taste, but it does it well. I got 20 full steeps in my silver pot (7g in 70ml, so the steep times were short). I was thinking there wouldn't be any cha qi, but after 13 steeps a warmth went down to my stomach and flooded my whole body, calming my body and mind. I would definitely recommend this tea to anyone."

Favorite so far?
"Pretty new to the tea world. Got a pureh sampler and I've been drinking a lot of tea every day since :D I think this is my favorite. Super dark liquor with a rich chocolate & nutty flavor like others have mentioned. Plan to grab a full cake of this on my next order if it's not sold out!"

Nicely balanced
"The liquor is medium bodied and has a very nice dark burgundy colour. Leaves’ smell is predominately reminiscent of prunes, but there are notes of peat, blueberry pie and in later steeps some smokiness as well. I could also identify some mushroom aroma in the liquor itself. The taste has nice coffee bitterness and is quite varied. Up front, it’s mostly sour. The finish is fairly sweet, but then the aftertaste becomes somewhat savoury. The later steeps become even more sweet and nutty (walnuts and brasil nuts). The mouthfeel is slightly mouth-watering, powdery and coats the mouth quite well. There is a little bit of astringency too. The cha qi is warming and seems to defocus the mind, probably better for relaxing than working."

Living close to Churchill Downs, we do love the Horse
"Admittedly i tend to enjoy the larger leaf shou better, but i must say this Grade 1 tea is delicious . Bold, viscous with that small leaf bit and sweetness. I am glad that i bought my cake of this tea several months ago as the price has gone up over 50%! and will probably continue to go up until it sells out. If you enjoy the smaller leaf shou tea you must add this to your tea library. Tea on"
