Lao Zhai or "Old Village" is a small village near Ku Zhu mountain in Jinggu county of Simao.  Lao Zhai is home to many old tea trees and sits on gently sloping south section of Ku Zhu mountain.  This production is made from first flush of Spring 2013 and is entirely from Lao Zhai old tea trees which range in age from 80 to 200 years old.  It's naturally grown and harvested without the aid of chemical fertlizers or pesticides.  The tea is lovely and thick with a mushroom character and little to no smokiness present.  Brewed leaves are thick and stout with dark-olive green color.

Great tea

"The five stars are for the ratio of quality to price. This is an inexpensive tea but the flavor is very not inexpensive. Gardenia and sandalwood. Definitely mushroom thickness, though this is not an oleaginous tea and does not have a thick mouth feel. The aged flavor is there but includes the sheng freshness (& some of the astringency). Some drying on the tongue and definitely saliva producing. Tasty tea. Very enjoyable at a low price point. Is this a great tea? No. Is it a really pleasant daily drink. Certainly."

Jinggu juice

"I really enjoy Jinggu tea, so I jumped at the chance to buy a whole semi-aged cake of gushu at such an affordable price. I really like young Jinggu teas for their meadow fragrence. This tea has that same quality but ripened in an interesting way. For me, it has persistent full-mouth juciness spreading from the center of the tongue. The juice carries that nice jinggu oil with notes of smoke and mineral."
