This is a lovely Ya'an Sichuan Green Tea!  Grown in the high altitude tea gardens in the area of Meng Ding Shan.  This unique Sichuan Mao Feng varietal is painstakingly processed and then "straightened" to look like pine needles!

The taste is fresh and sweet with some fruity character, and some umami astringency as well.  The tea soup is a lovely green-yellow color!

Late-March into Early April harvested First Flush!

Very Pleased

"I have been very happy with the tea, and the service, that I have received from you. I found you online, and placed an order, but didn't notice until it arrived that you are based in San Marcos. As it happens, I live near Canyon Lake, just down the road. If you were a bricks and mortar store, I would probably drop by."

Sweet humble tea

"The only Sichuan tea I’ve had prior to this one was Gan Lu years ago from another vendor. Ya’an Pine Needles is not nearly as elegant as Gan Lu and it’s not trying to be, but it’s a good choice for a casual daily green tea. This tea is very very mellow and soft, with sweetness, a cool lively and refreshing kelpy umami and some subtle butteriness in early steeps. The set leaves have a beautiful aroma of grass & fresh cut flowers. I find the taste reminiscent of those humble old style, less famous country green teas from various provinces."

Delivery takes more time than

"Delivery takes more time than I expected, but the tea itself is top shelf. I ordered several varieties of green and black tea, and every one of them is excellent."

Great every day tea

"Very nice tea for every day. Almost impossible to brew improperly, so newbies can easily enjoy it as well."

Wonderful and very pleasant green tea

"I’m very pleased with this tea. Bought a bag of it last year 2024. I drank it for a while and then put it back in my closet. I do find you have to be very careful with this and not steep it too hot. I find it very pleasant steeped western style at 160° for two minutes. Depending on my taste buds, I might increase it to 175 towards the third steep."

Mostly Flavorless

"I bought this tea (2025 Harvest) around a month ago, but almost nothing I do to it can bring out any flavor. To get some, I have to brew it grandpa style (yet without adding any more water as I drink), and even then it’s just light astringency with a hint of grocery store green tea. Sadly I will not be drinking the rest of the bag."

Green tea from Sichuan

"This is a great green tea! The wet leaves have a strong aroma of mango!!! This is a very strong tea so I make sure I use short steeps. The tea soup is nice and tangy. The dry leaves smell sweet! I’m so thankful for Yunnan sourcing because they have the best variety of green teas and the prices make me so happy. It’s a blessing to be able to quickly receive the best Chinese teas right here in United States. Thank you Yunnan Sourcing!"
