This is a 2021 spring harvest production (packaged into baskets in 2022) of Tian Jian tea from Liu Bu Xi village in An Hua County of Hunan(about 20km west of An Hua, here). High quality first flush of spring tea was picked and processed carefully using kill-green (frying), rolling, fermenting, and drying and then steamed and packed into these little hand-made baskets.

This is a smoky, peaty, molasses type Tian Jian. It's very sweet and full-bodied as well. Very rich and complex. If you are a scotch whisky fan or want a non-alcohol equivalent then this is the tea for you!

Not for me

"A bit dirty tasting"

smoke, pine resin, stone fruit, milk chocolate

"Brewing: 6g/100ml, 100°C, flash rinse, 10s x 3, +5s. Warmed-up leaves are smoky and fruity. When wet, they smell of wood and tobacco. The liquor tastes of smoke, pine resin, stone fruit, milk chocolate and spices. I like this better than the "Gao Ma Village" version, because it's less smoky. Still good after 20 steeps."

Wonderful

"Fantastic. Super rich fruit, coca and fermentation note. Warming and delightful. Definitely going to buy a basket of it."

One of the best heichas I've had

"What an amazing tea! It's very different from most other heichas in my collection. It has a medium-light fermentation that's light enough to keep the bright notes, but medium enough to give it a thick body. Dry leaf aroma reminds me of a Hershey's malted chocolate shake, the taste is sweet, refreshing, it leaves a zingy tingling textured sensation on the palate that I've rarely encountered, it's almost like seltzer soda. The desceiption at the site says: "If you are a scotch whisky fan or want a non-alcohol equivalent then this is the tea for you!" I've never tasted any kind of whisky, but I bet anyone that enjoys those flavors would find this to be a great alternative for a good time! Also, the cha qi, wow, it hit me mid session unexpectedly, I was at a cold room, but I still felt warm and cozy inside, energizing."

Interesting, not sure if I like it yet

"There's quite a bit of peat here, with something like rice stalks. Very smooth, no bitterness, but lacking the lingering, tingly mouthfeel of the "Gao Ma Village". I will try another brew soon, but I can't say I am drawn to drink more as I am with the Gao Ma Village. Not smoky like that one, almost a damp flavor."

Everything Scott W said yet MELLOW

"I second the tasting notes, smoky, peaty, molassesly, full-bodied, complex, yet mellow enough that I could drink a whole thermos full of it on a mostly empty stomach. I expect that this tea would be great if you are hungover"

A delicate but smooth tea

"A delicate but smooth tea with a hint of smoke"
