We are proud to offer a Certified Organic Black Tea from Yunnan.  This tea was grown in the area of Simao and was harvested in April.

This "Pure Bud" Black Tea (单芽红茶) is a Yunkang #10 varietal growing at and altitude 1300 meters (4300 feet) on the southern slope Ma Wei Mountain (just west of Pu'Er City).  The processing is typical of black tea with sun withering, rolling, oxidization (about 2.5 hours)  and finally drying.

This pure bud black tea is sweet and malty with honey taste and aroma. It is neither astringent nor bitter, and can be brewed 6 to 8 times gong fu style.

Our Yunnan Sourcing Certified Organic teas are certified organic by EcoCert SA and are certified organic to international standards (EcoCert is IFOAM accredited).**

A good, complex everyday tea.

"A good, complex everyday tea. Go for the larger quantities so you don’t run out of it too quickly."

Pure Bud Black tea is really pure in taste

"The Yunnan Pure Bud Certified Organic Black tea is a robust tea with a smooth flavor. The aroma of the leaves, prior to brewing, is pure and likened to the scent of field grains and brings back memories of feeding farm animals on my grandparents farm. You can tell by the color of the leaves it is special. No sugar or additions to your tea is needed with this one. It is refreshing and stands well on its own."

Many steeps, pure taste!

"Being a pure bid black from Simao I compared it to my favorite Imperial Mojiang Black (also from YS). The Organic one is a bit more honey and fruit, compared the fruit and chocolate of the Mojiang. Both have dried leaf that are bright gold in color, though the tea soup of this (organic) pure bud seems a little more yellow-gold compared to the slightly darker Mojiang. In terms of taste and aroma this organic one is very sweet and aromatic. It did outperform the Mojiang in terms of the number of steeps it took to brew it out. This tea just keeps going, delivering consistently tasty steeps!"

A very decent black tea

"This is the first black tea that I’ve brewed gong fu where the aroma from the wash made me want to drink it! It reminds me of cooking or baking a pie. I think this will be a nice harvest to drink through winter as it evokes a nostalgia that instills cozy feelings of quiet snow days and a full belly. Outside of that, it is a fairly average black tea flavour-wise. I recommend this tea for every day drinking :)"
