Teng Tiao village (Rattan village) is located in Jing Gu county of Simao.  The leaves used for our production come from the oldest stand of trees in the area (150-300 years old).  The tea is first flush of spring and was picked in mid-April during the dry cool sunny weather that precedes the end of the monsoon season in southern Yunnan.

This is a unique tea because the cha qi is clean and strong but not overpowering.  There is a nice grass and floral aroma in the first sips and very noticeable cooling sensation in the mouth and throat followed by a slight mouth-watering feeling from the tongue.  The successive infusions become stronger and then even out.  The leaves and stems are very burly and attest to their old tree origins.

Our Spring 2017 Teng Tiao is very strong and thick in the mouth.  Perfectly balanced bitter, astringent and sweet.  Long lasting mouthfeel and very infusable.  This tea is a classic and will be sought after long after we've sold out of it.

Amazing tea

"I got the 25 grams sample of this tea. After tasting it I know that I absolutely want to purchase the whole cake. The tea leafs are so big and beautiful. The taste of this tea is brilliantly strong. After consuming my sample today I got so much organization and cleaning accomplished around my house. This tea really is motivational!!!"

That’s not a like, that’s a love

"This is just s beautiful tea. The main reason I bought a cake is for the quality of the qi. I enjoy sitting for tea meditation early in the morning. For this time of drinking tea I enjoy a tea that invigorates the awareness without a punchy edge and yet is grounding as well. I want to awaken the spirit, not startle it or put it on a task. This Teng Tiao fits that perfectly. It envelopes the body with a qi glow like a warm, bright blanket. In addition to that, the quality of the leaves and the production are quite beautiful. Even the pressing of the cake is perfect with large leaves cleanly separating with a careful push and twist of my pick. And it’s true, I would say the flavor profile of this fresh Sheng is perfectly balanced, full in the mouth with mouthwatering minerality and an essence that splashes upward and slips easily down the throat. I want to say that you shouldn’t buy this tea because I’m feeling greedy. I want it all!"

Delicous

"Scotts description fits perfectly. The bitterness is there but not overpowering. And the flavour is very interesting. Definitely worth the money. Would get a tong if i could afford the import fees 😁"

Dancong-like fragrance

"This is a beautifully clean, clear, crisp and bright puerh tea. The leaves are nice and green, with little apparent oxidation, leading to a slick, fresh flavor and intense orchid-like aroma that is quite like a nice dancong oolong (of course with the beautiful musky sheng puerh aroma to back it up). Lovely, lovely tea."
