A classic recipe from Menghai, the first production of 2006 (601). This is an average blend of 5th grade material that was fermented in 2005. Aged for 11 years in Kunming.  An excellent ripe tea with just enough age to make it perfectly enjoyable!

Not amazing but far from boring

"Not amazing but far from boring, if anything this might be one of the most unexpected ripe pu-er's i've had. Imo I think some of the other reviewers share similar sentiments or confusion. Metaphorically speaking the tea is very bright but completely lacks the low or dark end (vs a tea that is well rounded or balanced from both ends). The mouth feel is slightly oily and, strangely, maybe a tad bit chalky too though the liquor is very clear. The aroma or brightness (smell + taste) is something between aged wood, that I commonly associate with most ripe pu'er, and a sort of artificial/chemically pez or powdered laundry detergent. It's consistently present from the initial heating of dry leaves to the many infusions."

My first ripe pu erh love

"I ordered the 07 cake years back and it made me completely fall in love with the Menghai brand. Tried the 11 cake, while it was good it didn’t hit as high. This however, the 06 cake, this is simply amazing, and hits closer to what I remembered. Toffee, sweet caramel, it’s smooth as ever, and no strong basement/earthy notes. Worth every penny, thank you YS for selling this!"

Aged Gracefully

"I am slightly conflicted about this tea. Not overly complex. Not overly anything actually, but what it is, is a satisfying tea. If you are after that strong earthy flavor, not this one. For me this tea is very pleasant, with a slight coating of the tongue , seems like an almost sweet fruitiness with a relaxing qi. The word that comes to mind on this one is ELEGANT."

Great entry into Ripe Pu-erh

"As a new Ph-erh fan I asked Yuannan Sourcing to choose some samples for me. As one of the samples this was a great starting point. I enjoied the tea very much. Great rich flovor with long lasting aroma and mouth feel."
