A lovely old arbor (古树白茶) white tea cake made from Spring 2019 tea harvested from 80-300 year old tea trees in Man Gang village (Bang Dong, Lincang), and then blended with tea flowers 茶花 from the same garden!

We have been working closely with a family in Man Gang for several years now and have asked them to help us pick and process a white tea and blend with tea flowers from the same garden from their old arbor family tea garden!  The result is a lightly processed and sun-dried white tea that is delicious to drink, sweet and thick, aromatic, and bubbling with cha qi!

This lovely tea was pressed into a 250 gram tea cake with a medium+ level of compression to lock in the aroma and flavors of tea, allowing for a gradual aging over time.  You can store like you would a pu-erh cake (and can be stored alongside raw pu-erh or black tea cakes), or if you prefer it to stay the way it is you can seal it up.  Ideally a clay jar or wooden box with some/minimal air flow would be best!  We do recommend that you store in a low humidity environment to prevent the hatching of larvae.  No pesticides were used on the tea or tea flowers which means that if the cake is stored in high heat and high humidity it could lead to larvae hatching on the tea flowers. If stored properly this will not happen.  We recommend keeping it below 25C temp and below 60% RH.

Okayish tea, rather uninspired. Normally

"Okayish tea, rather uninspired. Normally I'd give it 4/5, but at this price point it's not worth it at all. One can get excellent Fujian Whites at 1/3 of the price. Smell is better than the taste. Smell: very pleasant complex aged flowery scent, pine resin, raisins Tasting notes: like an aged shou mei with flowers"

Balanced taste between bright and

"Balanced taste between bright and earthy flavors. This was my first white tea, I'll try more when this is gone."

Sweet and floral tea

"An interesting concept – blending leaves and flowers from the same garden. The resulting tea is resinous and flowery in a way that reminds me of Oriental Beauty a little. Overall, it doesn’t strike me as an overly exciting tea though. The aroma has a strong note of pine resin, complemented by raisins, custard and forest floor. It is a very sweet and floral scent, in line with the rest of the experience. The medium-bodied liquor displays several muted flavours such as grass flowers, fermented cabbage, and cherry wood. In the spicy, expansive aftertaste, I also detected a celery like note."

Delightful and pleasant

"Lovely soft white floral notes that are not in your face. Liquor is slight burnished evening sun in colour. On the palate entry is soft and subtle. Light to medium bodied upon entry but some thickness towards the back. Really soothing and relaxing. Hard to point to exact flavors quite complex but in a soothing way. Good tea but not at its peak now"

Boon T. (4/5)

Smooth and very sweet

"If I'm going to drink white tea I tend to go for aged white tea or more savory types but I really liked the flowers and sweetness of this blend!"
