This is a premium new blend produced only in 2017 (so far) from Mengku area first flush of spring material. Lin Cha Zui (临茶醉) means Tea Drunk on Lincang (tea). Mengku county is located in the Lincang prefecture of Yunnan. This is a strong smooth tea, with a balanced bitter/astringent profile and plenty of fruity sweetness, lubricating mouth feel and of course a strong cha qi that might make you feel a bit "tea drunk." A premium tea worthy of aging, and if if you are not faint of heart this is a very enjoyable tea now!

Yunnan Shuang Jiang Mengku 云南双江勐库 : Shuangjiang Mengku is a company that was established in 1999 in the city of Shuangjiang, which means Double River, in Mengku county of Lincang 临沧 prefecture. The predecessor was a state-owned Shuangjiang Factory that was established in 1974. Their teas have become renowned for both their distinct crisp tastes and reasonable prices. The name of their factory is Rongshi (戎氏) and so they sometimes also produce teas under the Mengku Rongshi label. Presently, they have become one of the top tea producers in the country. Mengku's classic recipes include "Mu Shu Cha,” "Wild Arbor King," and "Spirit of Tea" and are typically produced each and every year!

Strong and Enchanting

"A love for this tea has snuck upon me after many sessions. I initially thought the flavour profile was not quite to my tastes, and that I would be able to leave it alone to age. However, I find this tea quite hard to pin down and I think that’s why I keep drinking it so frequently. This is a strong tea with a complex fragrance and flavour. The top notes of this tea are quite ‘earthy pungent mixed with spicy’’ as in an array of aromatic roots and tree barks, saps and resins, such as those used in traditional incense, slightly wet forest, fresh hay, mushroom broth, bread dough. The scent is both warming and cooling at once, like tropical rains. Underneath all this is a strong citrus bittersweetness that is more orange and bergamot. The flavour of this tea contains all these aromas and leaves a lingering impression of citrus bittersweetness and fragrant incense coating the tongue and throat. As for tea energy, I find this tea is quite sedating. It has a very strong effect which at first I found to be almost too strong to be desirable, but now am quite comfortable with on the right day. I would say this is a tea for a meditative state, a rainy do-nothing day, as it has the effect of whisky on a somber mood. Inexperienced as I am, I needed some time to place this tea, and now I think that it really deserves to be aged."

Sweet and strong

"What a complex brew. Hints of orange and spice on the back end, pungent up front. It is full and strong, and waiting to sneak up on you. I broke the session up to be safe but will definitely be doing a full session, too. I like them strong, and would recommend one for now and one for later."
