Our 3rd production from Bing Dao village and the first from Spring harvested tea leaves! Bing Dao Lao Zhai (lit Bing Dao Old Village) is one of the two villages called "Bing Dao".  There is Bing Dao Xin Zhai (lit.  Bing Dao New Village) as well, which is the more famous of the two villages in the same area.  Bing Dao Lao Zhai trees range in age from 100-300 years old, and while there are older trees we were not privy to that material due to high demand and very high prices.   That being said this is still the most expensive Lincang tea we have ever produced.  It is also one of the best we have produced and if you want to drink Bing Dao tea from spring harvest and from old trees, then this is an excellent choice!

It's interesting that "Bing Dao" means "Ice Island" in Chinese, because this tea is very cool in the mouth and is at once subtle and powerful.  It's got a "creep up on you" cha qi and a powerful pungent mouth-feeling that will stay with you long after your session has ended.  There is is bitterness and astringency but it's never center stage and adds to the complexity of this tea.  One of the more difficult to describe raw pu-erhs I have had.  It can only really be judged by several sessions, so I recommend buying at least 25 grams to start.

Love the Bingdao

"I purchased a 400g cake about a month ago and have been enjoying this tea in large quantities multiple times a week. The cake itself is not packed tightly and visually looks appealing. The leaves are large and mostly fully intact. The tea itself has a great blend of bitter and umami notes reminiscent of a good pure ban zhang but without the delicate florals. The tea didn't taste too sweet to me, it actually tastes more citrus. Jingmai and Jinggu teas are very sweet in my opinion so take it for what you will. This is a nice solid tea that is a great blend of complexity and simplicity. Great every occasion tea if the price seems right to your wallet."

A moment full of surprises!

"Bouquet: It steaming scent is very massive and thick with deep vegetable notes of zucchini, avocado, broccoli, edamame and spinach. Within the next following moments you might also breath in different herbal notes especially those from camomile. Within the later infusions there you are going to notice a nice natural mineral layer. Liquor: The actual taste goes a bit into a different direction. First and foremost its liquor is silky soft and pleasantly slightly creamy with a quite sweet corn syrupy layer to it but also nice components of different fruits like cherries, pears plus hints of berries and mango. There is also a certain gummy version of cherries to it like cherry blossom Japanese Hi-Chew. Later within the third steeping more and more the vegetable front is shining through with nuances of sweet potatoes and backed potatoes. There is something to it which is hard to describe in some ways it got a specific maritime touch to it but also something like a minimal touch of a car repair shop flair. This buddy is really something - definitely different and unique in its own way. The liquor is quite coating the tongue and your cheeks. Within its echo a fusion of honey and pear fruits with hints of cherry blossom melt perfectly together. Even while I am writing those words there are already new impressions I receive out of its echo - like if it is constantly changing. Now I also get a certain frankincense tree resin character within its massively delicious liquor. It isn't a long runner but within its 5-6 infusions you get so much - like a day full of surprises.
