Classic style black from Yixing in Jiangsu.  The home of the world famous Purple "Zisha" Clay Teapots is also an area that produces some less-known but still world-class black tea!

We are proud to offer three grades of Yixing Hong for you to enjoy!

This classic grade is processed to maximize it's thick aroma which reminds us very much of freshly baked whole wheat raisin bread!  The taste is thick and sweet notes of baked bread and just a touch of chocolaty bitterness.  What a treat!

Harvested in Late-April each year!

An Unusual Yet Excellent Black Tea

"This is a black tea with a very distinctive flavor profile and a beautiful orange-bark-brown liquor. In the aroma of the hot leaves, I detected notes reminiscent of potato peel. The taste is complex — not sweet, but rather deep and vegetal, at times almost savory, with hints of bread. There is a touch of bitterness, and in the background there is always a presence of dark chocolate, never overpowering. It withstands six infusions and responds best to water at 100 °C. A highly complex tea, revealing something slightly different each time. I give it 5 stars, as it is an excellent tea, even if not entirely within my preferred flavor spectrum."

A wonderful tea with a delicate aroma and flavor

"A wonderful tea with a delicate aroma and flavor. It never turns bitter, even when brewed quite strong. It drinks very smoothly, allowing you to savor the delightful fragrance rising from the cup before each sip."

Good tea for a cold winter night

"I really liked the 2023 harvest, since I thought it tasted exactly like sweet potatoes. I was a little disappointed that the 2024 harvest had more of a typical black tea flavor, but it still gets the job done on a cold winter night. A rich, malty tea that keeps me warm and offers comfort on those short winter days."

Very good

"This is very good tea, when brewed in teapot. By shorter exposition tea becomes very aromatic and vibrant. By longer- it goes similar to Laoshan black."
