This is a classic wet piled Liu Bao from Wu Zhou Tea Factory.  Harvested and processed in 2001 and then packed into 30kg baskets for longer term aging.  This entirely "Te Ji" grade (Te Ji is the smallest leaf grade for Liu Bao) Liu Bao has aged into a smooth but potent tea with a strong cha qi and long lasting mouth-feeling.  The taste is unique and hard to describe.  Only a small leaf grade wet piled Liu Bao with 20+ years of age will have this kind of character.   Very clean storage with little to no mustiness!

We recommend purchasing a small amount of this to see for yourself why this is a must-have for Liu Bao lovers!

This comes in a lovely basket if you purchase the 500 grams basket option, other quantities will come in our standard resealable silver pouches.

Surprising Taste

"A lovely tea. I brewed it this morning Gong Fu style, in a gaiwan at 100 degrees C, with successive steeps 10 seconds apart. . I would normally expect a tea that has been aged this long to have a strong roasted taste. My big surprise: the strongest flavor that came through in the first three steeps was fresh green herbs! Then, starting with the fourth steep, a roasted flavor gradually began to merge with the green herbs. A rich and peaceful experience."

So far we have tried

"So far we have tried a few and they have all been good. Great service and good assortment."

"Chen xiang" is right

"This is probably the most aged-smelling tea I've ever had: deep old wood, loam, betel nut? (not having ever smelled actual betel nuts I can only go by other teas described in this way). Stick your nose way into that gong dao bei, and the aroma is insane, like a magical decomposing log- in a good way! Probably not a tea to serve to newbs, to whom it will likely just taste like dirt. But this is magical dirt!"

Archetype of liubao, good one

"Powerful and deep. Really classic, well rounded liubao. Petrichor taste, with some herbal notes. Strong on many fronts. Patience might be the weakness, this doesn't last quite as many brews as some others, which is to be expected with the small leaf-size."

appulse

"One of the most balanced specimen, smooth yet potent, a bit on the side of wild traditional ones but the difference is that those are on heavy oily knockout where your body doesn’t know how to react and send you to slumber. This one is definitely in its own category probably because of leaf grade. Will try neo-modernist way of placing it in cold water and bringing to the boil slowly on ultra slow gas flame in 45 mins and keep boiling for another 20 mins."
