Autumn harvest tea leaves from 200-300 year old tea trees growing in Jiu Tai Po village in Jinggu county of Simao. Jiu Tai Po or "9 Mesa Village" is a small village with about 1200 inhabitants. Many are involved in tea production. The surrounding hills are covered with forest and tea growing, often among larger trees. The elevation is an ideal 1500 meters.

Our Jiu Tai Po village tea cake is a sweet, thick and pungent tea. It's got a grain-like taste, bitterness and floral notes much like a good IPA! The cha qi is noticeable but not overpowering. Can be infused 10+ times without losing power.

Stone-pressed in the traditional manner.

It's alright.

"A little bit of everything, thus nothing stands out. Not very unique, but not a bad choice either. Subtly herbal aftertaste is it's most defining feature I think, one could almost pass it off as hoppyness. The strength is adequate, slight sweetness in later steeps. I am unfamiliar with the Ju Tai Po region."

Fantastic tea, incredible value

"Honey, wildflower bouquet, subtle wood notes. Peach and lychee contrast pine tar and sauteed root vegetables; zero bitterness or astringency, and a powerful hui gan that makes the experience balanced and lasting. An underlying mushroom umami provides counterbalance to the sweet and floral notes, and gives the tea a hearty backbone. Spiced pine begins to take center stage in infusions 6-9, but the sweet and fruity notes remain clear. Cha qi is strong, revitalizing, quickening, and balancing."

Exemplary autumn material

"Candied rose petals, raspberry preserves, green grapes, salted caramel, cotton candy, white wine, sour gummy worms candies, medium-thick body, the cha qi is present, uplifting, but calming and meditative at the same time. This is one of the best examples of why I love autumn puerh so much, a taste of luxurious, unique old arbor tea, at less than half the price of spring harvest material. What a bang for your buck!"
