This tea cake was created to commemorate the "International Pu-erh Tea Expo" in Kunming in 2002. The event took place at the Kunming Wholesale Tea market and coincided with the opening of a new (second) section of the wholesale market.

The tea cake is composed of blended raw material from Lincang, Simao and Menghai sun-dried tea leaves. Compression level is medium and the tea is still pungent and intense as it was dry aged in Kunming since its inception.

A nice semi-aged tea with powerful cha qi countered with a developing aged mellowness.

Amazing

"By the smell of the leaves I was expecting something smoky. But when I did the first steep i was pleasantly surprised by how sweet it was. It kind of reminded me of dates. And there was also this interesting spicy sensation. At the 3rd and 4th steeps there was a little smokiness coming through, but it went away pretty fast. And on the fifth steep there was some slight bitterness that went away later. After I finished drinking I was left with sweet aftertaste and pretty strong cha qi."

Top shelve

"This 20 year old puerh has everything a puerh lover expects. It has a smooth, vintage, leathery body that hides lots of nuances of peach, and various unnamed fruit. Your mounth remains coated with a pleasant bright and flowery after-taste that lingers and asks for yet another sip. It has a calming and grounding energy. Loving it!! Brewed it at 5.5g/ 100ml 100C water, 15sec + 5 on subsequent brews."

Great feelings and taste

"One of my favorites. Very mellow, especially for kunming stored and you can definitely taste the menghai material. It's my favorite based on the cha qi it gives me, like no other tea, just pure relaxing tea."

A great example of decent Kunming dry storage

"This tea is a wonderful example of Kunming dry storage gone well, on an interesting blend. I can't even begin to put my finger on all the flavors, and I'm glad to say that. This is a complex tea with a very full vibrant profile. If you are a fan of dry storage, this tea has come along far enough to really start rounding out. It still holds some aggressive notes, and holds flavor for a great deal of steeps."

Excellent dry stored sheng

"an amazing quality tea for the price. I prefer this to things like the 2001 menghai yyx which now goes for $500 bc of hype. I have bought samples of this tea several times it keeps getting better. I wish I had bought it when it was $60 dollars cheaper."
