This is a special varietal of Purple "Ye Sheng" Wild Tree Tea. It literally grows wild and this "sweet" sub-type is the most rare of all. It took 5 people 18 days to collect and process just 32 kilograms of this incredibly unique tea.

The processing is very simple and involves brief withering and hot dry air exposure to halt the oxidation. The resulting tea is incredibly unique and is like a floral bouquet drenched in watermelon juice. The floral character is something like rose both in taste and smell. This tea is totally unlike any other tea I have ever tried, and not only is it unique but it's very complex and goes many many steeps.

Believe the Hype.

"Such a delightful tea! The sweet floral taste with a hint of watermelon is so unique and refreshing. Definitely a must try. This was my first tea from Yunnan Sourcing and I will surely order again!"

Top Shelf Tea

"It is expensive, but this is a great tea. Vivid flavors of eucalyptus, mint, and pine, along with that "watermelon juice" sweetness. In the top 3 best white teas I have tasted, for sure."

Secret Tip

"This tea offers a very pleasant combination of sweetness, fruity aroma and a hint of acidity reminiscent of a fruit tea. In addition it is incredibly long lasting. Highly recommendable."

Mirko (5/5)

Sweet floral perfume water

"This is the sweetest tea I have tasted so far. There is a tiny bit of a fruity sourness that balances the whole experience."

Sweet Ya Bao, sweet ya be!

"One of those teas that makes me sit up straight and grin from ear to ear taking that first sip of sweet, fruity nectar from the cup! Like others have said so many times already it's sweet with a little bit of "sour". Not quite the right word and can bring about some unnecessary negative connotations if someone reading this doesn't like sour like straight lemon juice or a sour beer, also not tart, others mentioned this association but I agree it's kinda like a very subtle watermelon rind underneath what I'd describe as a watermelon flavor leading the charge. Gong fu brewing, good quality water at ~202/95C, usual 20 second initial steep(s) then slowly working up from there with 2 grams and 75-100 mL of water yields about 5 cups before the flavor weakens but still ok at 6. 3-4 grams wouldn't hurt nor steeping longer. Seems to be pretty forgiving. It's also delicious cold when I get distracted and forget to drink a cup. A larger cold brew will be great this summer."

So delicious

"This is my first purchase at Yunnan and it did not disappoint! Delicious white tea. I’ll be buying more"

An astonishing delicious tea, so

"An astonishing delicious tea, so lovely I have ordered a larger stash for extended drinking. It steeps well with the fragrant smell lasting through at least 4 steepings. Its become my favourite for relaxing and enjoying through the evening. The tea itself is the top buds and is a beautiful pinkish green colour, giving a delicate but fragrant flavour with a sweetish tinge to the taste. Adore this one!"

Complex and strong, but not my favorite

"It's a complex tea. . . . I'm not the best with describing flavors, but it has a bit of a kick to it that other white teas don't have. I normally drink jasmine white tea, moonlight pavilion, or white peony, but I decided to try this one. I think many people do prefer it, but to my taste, there is a little bit of sourness (?) to it which doesn't really match my preference when drinking white tea before bed. I tend to prefer pretty smooth and sweet white teas."

Incredible and unique

"Amazing. Smells like dried peaches. Easily get 5 infusions even brewing western style just off a couple of grams. Cold brew is also wonderful. One of my favourites."

Ariel H. (5/5)

Insanely delicious! Amazing tea energy. . .

"I almost wanted to be selfish and rate this 1 star to tank the reviews so there's more left over for me on my next order. . . Simply incredibly. It's so sweet and clear, juicy and refreshing. It honestly tastes like the tea is sweetened even though it's just the leaves. The tea energy is really nice too. Happy, bubbly, and with a calm energy. This is my new favorite programming tea."

Q&A

All I'm getting is unimpressive warm water with maybe a hint of something vaguely vegetal or floral. I'm making it 'grandpa' style with 2 grams of tea at 85C for 3 minutes. The color seems to be about what I see in the photos but there's not much flavor, certainly not what other reviewers are saying. What am I doing wrong?
Email support@yunnansourcing.com and we can provide some tips for brewing this tea. 2 grams is likely way too little.
Advice for brew this kind of special tea please : boiling water? Gongfu or grandpa style? How much leaves?
You can gong fu it, using more leaves and short steeps. Water temp 85-90C. 5 grams per 100ml gaiwan is nice, you can adjust amount up or down from there.
is it the buds of the camellia sinensis plant?
It's Assamica Dehongensis.
