This is a cake composed entirely of the "huang pian" (mature larger leaves) that were hand-plucked from the mao cha (loose leaf raw pu-erh) that composed our Spring 2018 Jinggu productions.  The larger leaves were left in Jinggu for a year to sweat, and then pressed into these lovely cakes.

These large leaves are entirely from wild arbor or ancient arbor tea trees and have a great deal of depth and flavor.  They deliver a honey-like sweetness with a nice viscous lubricating mouth-feel.  We've given this tea the name 春晓 which means "Spring Morning" because of its fresh but gentle character.

"Fruity, sweet, I would recommend to try it!"

Great

"This was a fantastic blend at this price range. Been going through it at a slightly alarming rate. Ordered the 2021 version and hoping that its got similar characteristics."

Johan L. (5/5)

A great starter tea

"This tea is easy to make so it's great for beginners. If you're just getting into tea or want a raw pu-erh tea that you can drink daily for a good price, then this is the tea for you. This tea is hard to mess up so find out what you like and experiment with steeping times. This tea lets you oversteep it without ruining it."

The only YS tea I've ever disliked

"This tea really struck out for me. It's weak and tastes like the generic factory puerhs that I thought I had left behind 15 years ago. Surprised by how bad it is."

Big bang for your buck

"Alot of the time when I read these reviews I feel we all must be drinking different tea ha ha but this one has maybe a 50 50 split . So for me the cha chi on this tea hits like a truck very strong body chest feeling ( Alot like a factory tea ) in the beginning . Some elegant flavors are present but not so elegent of a tea , sort of more like a rough and tuff kind of character overall. Sweetness is way up there with a obvious honey flavor but a hidden Stevia leaf Sweetness cooling of the mouth aswell . Taste has a Sappy fresh forrest pine with fermented fruits vibe . I read pear flavor and I agree that's hidden in this tea aswell . Grassy and almost a herbal cough medicine is the mouth feel I get that lasts minutes after my last sip . The bitterness is there but it's in the back of the mouth with a fair but of dryness and astringency but it suits the tea very well ... I personally don't think everyone will like this tea ... because get this ... how complex this tea actually is ! It delivers a secret punch of intensity compared to spring or autumn teas and is distinctive compared to the following years spring morning version. Disclaimer I brew alot of leaves at a time .75g to 10ml on average so my review might be a consintrated version ."

Lovely Huang Pian

"This is a very nice Huang Pian, with a great price/quality ratio. When brewed carefully, this tea is sweet and gentle, with a taste of grapes and flowers. It goes for many rounds and and is nearly impossible to over-brew. Possibly a great tea to introduce people to the joys of Pu-erh with."

Peter S. (5/5)

"Very sweet and smooth for a young sheng! Very enjoyable, and I think it would be difficult to oversteep."

Great Tea

"Such a good tea for its price. The cake is easily breakable, the taste is sweet and smooth. One of the best young Pu-erh teas I have tried so far."

Q&A

Does this tea benefit from being with cooler water? If so, it would be helpful to note that for those of us who are new to pu-erh.
Water temperature is purely a matter of personal preference. Certainly a lower temp would result in a more mellow and sweet experience for this tea.
What's the difference between the 350g and the 400g cake?
Same exact tea.
