An incredibly fantastic raw Pu-erh made from Wild Pu-erh tree leaves that have a dark purple color.  This 野生茶 (Wild Tea) is naturally dark in color, and is heavy in anti-oxidants and catechins.

Ye Sheng "野生“ varietal aka "Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze var. assamica (J. Masters) Kitam." is a primeval varietal that pre-dates Camellia Sinensis var. Assamica and is a naturally occuring non hybridized varietal. It's potency in cha qi arises from it's unadulterated nature. It is naturally bug repellent, and grows wild in the forests of Yunnan at an altitude of 1600-2200 meters.

The quality of the leaves and the meticulous processing ensures excellent storage and aging potential. The infused liquor is bright and is almost completely without bitterness. There is strong full taste in the mouth and a warm stimulating feel in the mouth and body after drinking this tea.

Nice one!

"I purchased a sample but I’m considering a whole cake as I really enjoyed it. At this point it is 11 years old and it has a very unique taste that develops nicely with each infusion. I did: 5g, 100ml, 95oC, 20sec wash, 10sec + 10sec, up to 10 times; 1st: floral vegetal, 2nd: floral vegetal with slight smoke, 3rd: same, 4th: sweet root vegetables, 5th: same, 6th: same, 7th: sweet fruity, 8th: same, 9th: mellow sweetness, 10th: more mellow sweetness."

Unique, but not a tea for me

"This is a unique tea for sure. Strangely enough though, the same characteristics that I like so much in the Ye Sheng black teas don’t do it for me in this sheng. I can imagine that the profile becomes more likeable over time, but I am not going to invest in this tea in order to find out. Despite this being a complex tea, I can’t say I found the taste very pleasurable as it is. There is a decent amount of bitterness and only a little astringency. The taste has quite a lot of depth and is reminiscent of celery, parsnip, nettle and generally some roast vegetables. In the smell, I noticed robust notes of wet grass and soil along the vegetal ones of asparagus, kale, steamed vegetables and lemon. It’s a fairly sweet smell, which translates to the taste as well. The mouthfeel is drying and foamy with a medium body. I get a strong body warming sensation as well."

A nice aroma of cooked

"A nice aroma of cooked root vegetables develops a more complex and seductive aroma half way through the cup. Very little bitterness balances nicely with some sweetness. Tangy, juicy with a nice throat cleansing quality. Hints of ripe orange melon and eucalyptus. Very enjoyable long lasting aftertaste and a mellow qi. I like teas that have depth and complexity, this one has both so highly recommended. Brewed gong-fu style and either a clay pot to gaiwan seem to work well"
