Our first ever Spring production from Da Hu Sai village.  Our Da Hu Sai was picked in late March from wild grown tea trees ranging 80 to 200 years of age.  Very pure tea with large thick stems and leaves.

The tea trees are growing naturally and no pesticides or artificial fertilizers are used.  As with all our Autumn 2013 and onward productions they have been tested in a lab for pesticide residues.  This is a pure tea both in material and taste.

The Da Hu Sai village tea is strong with fast mouth-watering effect.  The taste is thick with both astringent and bitter character that stays in the mouth and is gradually replace by a sweet syrupy thickness.  The mouth feel is strong and stays for along time after drinking.

5 stars isn't enough

"I had the distinct pleasure of trying the Da Hu Sai black tea from 2016, and even though that was six years ago, I still have not forgotten how unique the flavor profile was. It's all in the terroir - you just won't find anything that tastes quite like Da Hu Sai tea. I find this sheng pu'erh to convey that terroir even better than I remember the black tea version. It's ineffably deep and layered with flavors that take me into the forest floor and lead me up to the top of the canopy across my session... truly an amazing feat to go from something so earthy and textured on the palate to something so sweet and viscous in the later steeps. It starts off with thick layers of brothy, mushroom-y, and woodsy notes that have a nice bite on the tongue and linger throughout the session, but gradually get tempered as the sweetness comes out. There’s a very pleasant sweetness that creeps about halfway through the session which, for me and my Yixing teapot, turns into a distinctly strong note of salted caramel with some underlying fruity sweetness reminiscent of grilled peaches. 5 grams of leaf easily returns 10+ cups, All along the way, from first sip to last cup, the mouthfeel is powerful and will undoubtedly captivate your palate. The aftertaste is like a glaze that sits on the back of the throat and continues to release flavor bombs for a very long time after the session is over. The cha qi is incredible, for me it was warming and invigorating, but not overpowering."

"It's ok, I expected more for the age. Still a bit of a youngish feeling to it..."
