From the same families as our 2011-2013 productions but entirely Autumn 2013 harvest material!

"Mu Shu Cha" (母树茶) refers to the mother tea trees of Mengku where the oldest and most primitive Yunnan Large Leaf varietal tea trees still flourish. Our Mu Shu comes from 100-300 year old tea trees growing near Bingdao village in the south of Mengku county of Lincang.

This tea cake is an intense cha qi filled experience for the drinker. It is powerful with some astringency and bitterness, that is moderated by it's old tree origins. First flush and picked fairly early in the growth stage makes this tea a pungent and floral affair. Even with just a few months of aging as mao cha we have noticed a distinctive "兰香" orchid aroma and taste. A strong tea that will likely cause tea drunkeness in even the most seasoned lovers of young sheng!

Stone-pressed in the traditional manner.

400 grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo tong)

Good balance between quality and price.

"If you want to taste some really good Puerh tea, be sure to drink this tea. It has a mild and strong taste. I enjoyed it immensely. Each morning began with a cup of this tea. So give it a try."

"To start off I have very little experience with puer, especially sheng. I have tried plenty of them but my tongue simply can not pick up the nuances. I've tried several Xiauguan's and Menghai's, and with the being one the first YS sheng I have tried the main thing I can say is that they all taste like sheng. None the less, I can still tell this is a high quality tea. Asthetically this tea is beautiful, from the gorgeous leaves to the thick orangish light-brown liquor. The smell of the warmed dried leaves is absolutely intoxicating with a strong sweet floral note like a candied flower. The astringency is definitely present though I suppose the bitterness has mellowed with time as I am not disturbed by it at all. Taste is ever so slightly floral but like I said sheng always tastes like sheng to me. Still, I will say that this is the most pleasant and drinkable of all the shengs I have tried. One other thing, the tea drunkeness. I did not notice anything from three separate sessions with this tea. Thats not to say that someone else might not feel something as no tea has gotten me tea drunk to this day. Perhaps I simply don't know what to look for. Anyway, I will press on with my sheng journey and hope to be able to come back to this tea and pick out all of its features."
