This is entirely 2012 spring harvested Gong Mei White Tea from Fuding area of Fujian. It was aged in a clean/dry storage condition until it was pressed on April 10th 2018, and then stored in Kunming thereafter.

The taste of the tea is ultra smooth and sweet with notes of malt, sugarcane and the slightest vegetal umami taste.  It reminds me of a marriage of a tippy Yunnan Black tea and Bai Mu Dan.  The aging has made this tea something beautiful to experience.  Very thick and satisfying tea that is almost impossible to over brew.  This can be brewed western style as well with excellent results!  We also offer another Bao Feng Xian Ji 2015 Gong Mei cake here!

Gong Mei is considered to be 3rd grade Fuding White Tea, sharing character with both Bai Mu Dan and Shou Mei.

Fuding Bai Cha In order of tippiest to coarsest:

1st Grade - Bai Hao Yin Zhen (Silver Needles)

2nd Grade - Bai Mu Dan

3rd Grade - Gong Mei

4th grade - Shou Mei

Nice tea. Let it sit a bit after you buy

"I like this one. Has some sweet and syrupy notes I think. It's worth letting it sit for a few weeks when you get it I found the flavors developed a bit more after the first few times I had it. Its kind of a creamy, fruity, caramel flavor/smells"

Berry sweetness!

"Such an incredible huigan (sweet aftertaste) with strong flavors of berry/plum. I’ve never experienced anything quite like this before while drinking any kind of tea. The compression is just right and the leaves are very very resilient to brewing. It’s really hard to mess this one up, so it’s probably a good tea for folks who aren’t too practiced at gong fu brewing (though it is so forgiving, you might not get any better at gong fu style brewing by drinking it!). My only gripe would be that there’s a lot of twig material in it, which suggests some more indiscriminate/automated picking methods. I get the feeling that you are paying more for the age of the tea than the initial care in the harvesting process. Regardless, time has done a good job on this one, and I might end up buying another few cakes…"

Beautiful And Bold

"Easily one of the best and most beautiful white teas that I've ever had. It's both powerful and delicate. I could go on and on about it. But I say just try it. There's something so therapeutic and enchanting about Gong Mei teas... And this one is really something special. I'm fortunate to have had the experience."

Absolutely incredible flavors

"I had about 9 infusions of this tea at 90 degrees starting at 10 seconds + 5 per infusion. The first two infusions tasted like a normal gong mei. Then the third infusion hit me like a freight train. Raisins, plums, just incredible date flavors of fruitiness. Once the leaves open up in this tea it is just absolutely incredible. The after taste is soft and easy in the mouth like white teas usually are. The fruity taste on the 3rd infusion eventually mellow out as the infusions go on. I will definitely be buying a cake or two of this."

Nice Flavor Tea Cake

"I didn't know much about white tea until I bought this cake. Mellow nice sweet flavor. The cake breaks apart easily without a struggle. My experience with this tea cake has turned me onto white tea more."

Refreshing, calm and sweet

"Nice, aged and fresh at the same time. Calming sweet cocoa, and floral with light citrus note. I think I'll order some more."

Just a great tea.

"The body, substance, and sweetness of a good aged Shoumei but with the complexity and some of the high notes of a Baimudan. So basically everything I tend to look for in a Gongmei."

Complex tea with a good chi

"Dry nose: chocolate, caramel, nuts, malt, toasted raisin bread Wet nose: raisins, malt, coffee, cinnamon Brews a nice apple juice color with a medium, clean, almost minty texture. For me, tastes of raisin bread, baked apple, and with a lot of light brown sugar sweetness. Additional notes of apples, figs, apple oatmeal with raisins and cinnamon in the dry cup. I did not get any veggie notes. Good body chi with a slightly fuzzy brain. Brewed 9.3g in a 150 gaiwan, 185F."
