This is a small farmer production using a generic CNNP 中茶 Simplified Character wrapper.  This is made entirely from Spring 2002 wild-harvested "Ye Sheng" varietal (Dehongensis) tea harvested in Mengku.  The compression is tight and the tea has been aged in Kunming.  The tea soup is orange in color and does not seem aged so many years, but the taste is so mellow and sweet, completely lacking the very bitter character that the younger ones have.

It's a totally unique cake, the cha qi is definitely there but not mean or overbearing. The taste is thick and spicy with no bitterness.  Not heavily aged feeling though.

Nice, raw and smoky

"A very nice balance, smokiness and greenishness is there, but not too dominant. I like it, but it needs patience in preparation and usage of a bit lower water temperature along the journey"

Great Tea

"Another wonderful Yunnan tea, outstanding and satisfying that need to settle in with a nice cup of tea."

Treasure hunt of a tea

"Other reviewers have described the tea accurately here, just wanted to add: In my 25g sample I found a grain of rice, a strand of hair, a small piece of wood (bark?), and there appears to be a small amount of shu mixed in. I enjoyed the tea and enjoyed finding all the things in it!"

Mild tasting aged sheng with some age

"Fruity in the first steeps with no bitterness and slight pleasant astringency. I can feel some unripe passion fruit or cherries. There is a slight smoke in background. Generally feels much yunger that it really is. A little strange, but interesting tea."

This is a good tea

"This is a really nice, winey, fruity tea with an interesting edge of spice. It is somewhat delicate, but certainly not flimsy. I would say perhaps it's sophisticated. Certainly worth buying a sample to experience it. I love ye sheng black teas so this pu-erh is a real treat."

Delicate but aromatic

"Generally I’m not in love with Purple Shang Pu-Erh. But this one makes me change ideas. Sweet and delicate with strong personality!! I suggest to try."

Strong delicious bouquet but...

"This fellow is quite a strange one not in a bad way but different as expected! The actual bouquet is really nice and thick and just because of this first impression you immediately assume "This must be a long lasting and full thick bodied aged fellow!" Nah!!! Not really in fact. The taste is very nice but a bit light for this kind of age. Don't get me wrong this isn't a bad aged Sheng otherwise I would have given it a much lower rating than four BUT I am more into the really thick and full bodied ones this one really got a nice structure especially of mushrooms with a fine sourly astringent note to it and a certain touch of a cardboard taste with a final long fruity echo of very young pears and cheery blossom! The strongest infusions were 1-3 (after one rinse = not counted) the others really turned out very light very quick. I also tried to infuse the 7th one over 4 minutes. It was a bit stronger but not as much as some others tend to be. Good thing = there is really no bitterness at all within this fellow! The main attractions are definitely the entry of the wonderful thick aged medicinal aroma followed by those mushrooms nuances as its main act and the final encore of fruity lightly floral notes!
