The Jia Ji (aka First Grade) tuo is a classic Xiaguan recipe that has been produced for decades. High grade material is processed in the traditional method and then tightly compressed and stored in these individual round boxes. The boxes protect the tea from fluctuations in temperature and humidity giving the tea a stable environment perfect for aging!

Great Value, good tea

You can't go wrong picking this one up, as its low price makes it a pretty good value. You have to like an assertive tea though. Brew it gently. Abuse it and it will absolutely punch back at you.

The Cha Qi from this one is noticeable. I actually got a little bit buzzed from this one, which is very unusual for me.

After having aged this myself for a couple years, I'm noticing just a hint of That slightly caramel sweetness of oxidization in the taste, but it still very much is dominated by the dry storage flavor, a nice tart and crisp flavor, with notes of haygrass and roastiness, with a hint of smoke. It does the Xiaguan thing really well

This is a basic no frills strong raw puerh tea, but I like it. You may not like it though. It's strong. With nearly 10 years of dry storage this tea is still brash and powerful like the sound of a big muff guitar fuzz pedal, being played by a Sasquatch. But it's good. I like it. Read Less

Just finished up this tuo. Overall a nice value tea with a rough-and-tumble character. First several steeps were very light, as the tea opened up. Very compressed. to forget. Hint of smokiness that is well on its way to losing its intensity and integrating pleasantly into the tea. The aftertaste is sweet, fading quickly into the aforementioned smokiness. I think this is the kind of burly tea that would probably benifit from some more agressive storage. I would plan to put this away for the long term unless you like strong teas. 've run across. The brew is a nice golden/orange color with medium body. It is still young enough to have a nice, but not unpleasant, astringency. The primary flavors I am getting are smoke and spice with a touch of sweetness on the back end. The empty cup has a nice honey aroma to it.
