This tea is harvested from untended bushes 野放茶 growing in the Guan Yang area of Fuding (Fujian province) at an altitude of 900 meters.

April 2019 harvested Gong Mei pluck white tea was aged in loose leaf form for almost 2 years in Fuding before being pressed into this cake in 2021.

This tea has a really unique fruit aroma "Guo Xiang" (果香), and thick long lasting and smooth mouth feel.  Tea soup is a deep orange color and the brewed leaves are light brown in color.  The qi is very balanced and the tea leaves have excellent stamina.  You can feel the relatively high altitude growing conditions when drinking this tea!

Mellow Aged White

"This is a nice aged white tea. Very mellow, malty and thick, with a nice aftertaste when brewing with water just off the boil in a clay pot. The fruit taste is subtle, but it is there. Cozy vibes!"

Fresh sweet grass & apricot!

"My son in law requested this for his birthday. My daughter's favorite 😍. Light and green, notes of sweetgrass & apricots. Love it!!"

Delicious

"With lower temp water (180F), tea was malty, slightly sweet aftertaste, not astringent, easy to drink but not interesting. With higher temp (195F) water, it's like a different tea. The fruitiness, especially apricot, emerged. I love it! It didn't last though, by 4th infusion, it was getting more woody, mineral and slightly dry. It's a fun tea for a short session. Will buy again."

No depth but nevertheless excellent taste, crushing leaves is highly recommended

"The cons: The tea has a very simple straight forward taste, nothing too interesting. It lacks body and is very light. It has no astringency, this might be a pro or a con for you, I personally like some astringency on a white tea but it is not necessary. It has not much stamina and looses taste quite quickly, gongfu style I usually get 3 very flavourful infusions and almost no flavour after the 4th. Given its extremely affordable price that is no problem for me. The pros: The taste. It’s incredible. Seriously. Extremely sweet and fruity. Also I like the loose compression and the wrapper is very beautiful. Despite all the potential cons the taste is so good that the tea is an easy 5star for me. It is one of my favourite compressed white teas YS has to offer atm (tried almost all of them). It might be simple and not very sophisticated but it just tastes good. This is a tea that could easily be enjoyed by a non-teadrinker and an experienced white tea fan alike. I highly recommend breaking the large leaves a bit before brewing. I found that if I dont do that it does not taste nearly as good. Also, do any of you know whether this is the „same“ tea as the 2018 Guan Yang tea offered here, the descriptions are very similar. I also tried this one and found it really bad. It has a similar taste but without all the good things i like in the guo xiang."

Thick tea.

"The tea was really nice and thick in texture. I also really liked how the leaves opened up."

Delicious, must try!

"This tea is amazing, rich, smooth tasting, would recommend it."

Nice, easy going white tea

"Very mellow tea, slight brown sugar or honey sweetness. Woody and lightly floral, but not a fruity as I expected given the name."

Fantastic

"Received in tea subscription. This is exceptional lightly aged white -- peaches and honey for sure, meadow flowers, white chocolate, cinnamon. Very akin to drinking a wildly floral honey -- drenched in sunshine. I look forward to drinking more. Price is hard to argue with."

Delicious

"I got 50g of this in one of the monthly tea boxes. I am really impressed with the depth of flavor! I get something like honey and peach in the aroma and flavor. There is also a deeper earthy base note that is a bit woody and peppery. Perhaps from the aging? Great balance. Very little astringency and bitterness. I'll definitely be drinking more of this. Thanks Scott!"
