Liming Tea Factory is located in Menghai and specializes in both ripe and raw pu-erhs composed of local Menghai area tea leaves.  Golden Peacock is a tippy blend of Spring 2007 tea leaves that was stored in Kunming since 2007. The blend is similar to a Da Yi (Menghai Tea Factory) 7542, but priced more affordably.

Very clean dry storage in Kunming has smoothed the rough edges while preserving this tea's pungent aroma and powerful thick taste and mouth feel.  Thick, oily, bitter, sweet and floral this is a great Menghai blend that performs very well for it's age and price.  Highly recommend picking up this cake to drink or age further!

Aging nicely

"Bought this in January 2021. I enjoyed it sparingly over the years and have now revisited it in earnest. It seems to have aged well. To my palate at least, it's a cross between shou and raw - leaning just a bit more toward those classic shou flavours, with next to no astringency. Smoky, savoury, rich, with a hint of salt and fruit. It works well with Hong Ni. What a lovely tea!"

As the name suggests

"The aroma is incredible. Soup has a great taste too. Balanced with a mouthwatering sourness"

Aroma Raw Pu-erh

"Very smooth mouth feeling and a great body feeling. this is the best Raw Pu-erh I have had so far. Onward down the rabbit hole."

Great value

"Sometimes I can be quite prejudiced: when I see a aged tea going for a very low price, I often assume it must be low quality. That is not the case with this tea! The dry leaves give off a sweet, dark mushroom scent. The taste of this tea is floral and smooth, while also being a bit bitter. It's so smooth and easy to drink that I thought it might be wet storage. I used 6.5 g for 120 ml between two people, and the cha qi was noticeable. We kept commenting how nice the tea was! I plan on buying a cake soon."

Buttered Popcorn Veggies

"This cake is long gone, but it became a buttered popcorn tea. And only the best of the best raw cakes achieve buttered popcorn tea status. Melt lots of real butter, pop a bowl of popcorn, grind the salt to superfine, use a lot of salt. Make a bowl of popcorn. The tea is a great complement to the butter, which allowed me to make this tea real strong and enjoy the super deep flavor and cleansing high aromas. I will forever miss this tea, my pangs for longing with be lasting. Good strong tea that is liquid vegetable, making buttered popcorn healthy! Hopefully it will still be offered in the market the next time I make my raw buying rounds."

Great semi-aged pu-erh!

"Powerful semi-aged pu-erh, still pretty bitter for its age. Very clean paper for 12 years. I have enjoyed it and will consume about a half, but it seems definitely that it will greatly evolve with years."

Q&A

Is "everlasting aroma" the same as the "golden peacock" that is talked about in the description?
Not the same, but pretty similar taste profile.
