Processed with very light oxidization and roasting this Feng Qing area tea has a strong taste with some astringency and a long floral sweet after-taste.  This tea will continue to age and develop over the years.

Excellent choice for longer-term storage or just longer shelf-life for the lazy tea drinker!

Powerful!

"This is an Interesting tea that is a bit different than other Feng Qing blacks offered here. To me, the nose is all chocolate, but the flavor is strong florals and fruit with a malty background and pungent character. Powerful black tea!"

Comparation of Dian Hong and Ai Lao

"In my opinion, classic Dian Hongs are more "malty". Ai Lao has almost no maltiness. As far as I know, the point here is the method of drying the tea leaf. Maltiness is obtained when the fermented leaf is dried in a single process. And if you want to get a taste without “malt”, you need at least two stages of drying (I don’t remember the details, I only recorded that Ailao is more difficult to make from this point of view than the classic Dian hong)"

Tart bitter taste of apricot or apple pits.

"Dian Hong is the main tart taste familiar to black tea. As the strengths increases, it becomes more bitter. The aftertaste is reminiscent of the tart bitter taste of apricot or apple pits. This taste can even be compared to a slight numbness on the tip of the tongue, and it persists for quite some time."

Solid tea

"Pleasant malty tasting notes."

Soft and smooth

"I really enjoy this tea for its subtle aroma of dried plum, and I always take a moment to inhale it before taking the next sip. The taste is smooth and rich, with hints of malt and a delicate floral undertone. A wonderful tea!"

"This is one of my favorites. It is constantly good each season."

I expected more

"The description go this tea makes envy to buy it, but in reality I never succeeded to reveal expected pleasure. Simple and not engaging taste. Not bad, but disappointing."

An excellent example of dian hong

"I've had a lot of dian hongs, and this I feel is a great mid-level example of what a dian hong should be. Naturally sweet, and a little spicy. Not as chocolatey as the Ning'er golden honey aroma on this site, but way more creamy. At this price, this tea is almost unbeatable."
