The Te Ji (aka Special Grade) tuo is a newer Xiaguan recipe that has been produced since 2003. High grade material is processed in the traditional method and then tightly compressed and stored in these sleek hypo-allergenic plastic bags. For overly humid and hot climates you can store these long-term in their original packaging. For drier and/or cooler climates open the bag, or cut holes in it to allow for faster aging.

Classic Xiaguan tuo, great for long-term storage!

Solid Tea

"Became my daily drinker! Not much bitterness. Lingering sweetness. I usually get 10 steeps out of it and I feel like I could get a few more even. I recommend!"

Complex & Extraordinarily Cheap For A Raw Pu-erh

"Especially for this price, this raw pu-erh tea is excellent; it was actually my introduction to raw pu-erh. My cheap ripe pu-erhs were around 11 through 13 dollars per 100 gram bag; by comparison, this raw pu-erh was only around 5 dollars for an 100 gram whole tuo when I bought it. I'll likely buy a 500 gram bag of tuos of this in the future. This raw was complex, with an aroma similar to miso soup & green tea; the color matches the pictures. The taste had some of both of those notes but the fruity green tea notes were the most dominant. On the downside, holy bitters batman. I figured out I needed to brew this with boiling hot water & use less leaf, this seems to cut down on the bitterness a lot. This tuo was challenging to break into, I'd recommend an oyster knife or an olive fork."

Astringent but not bitter with a delicious flavor with some sweetness

"First raw pu erh I’ve ever tried and it is great. Like I said in the title it was astringent but not bitter and I would highly recommend this tea to new drinkers such as myself"

Pretty well-rounded for the price

"Good flavor, smooth, just a little bit of smokiness, fairly tight press but not too bad"

Solid for the price

"Classic XG/young sheng flavor for what's quite cheap. Brewed how I like young sheng, cooler water, & a soft pour. Sweet, syrupy smell on the liquor and wet leaf. The wet leaf is a bit smoky like xiaguan sheng often is, but it's not punchy (but it could just be the cooler water subduing the smell). Astringent, with a classic floral aftertaste, like the flowers of a small-leaved lime tree. Little fragrance in the nose, and no discernable effect on the body, but it's $0.07/1g, so I wouldn't call that as a flaw."
