Hand-crafted in a Dehua (Fujian) studio from Nixing (Qin Zhou) clay this stunning gaiwan with dish could be a welcome addition to your gong fu tea experience!

Deisgned and crafted entirely by Chen Xiao Ming!

Chen Xiao Ming graduating from the Xiamen Arts and Crafts University in 2008.  He studied under Liu Yu Fa who is a senior top level artist working in Fujian since the 1980's.  Chen Xiao Ming's works have won awards at the Dehua Industrial Design "He Chazong" competition.

Amazing little gaiwan!

"This gaiwan feels great in hand and pours well. Do note that due to the nature of the nub at the top being at an angle, it definitely has one way it likes to be poured, and that's with the downward angle facing the pour. Personally, I tried this with Sheng Puerh and Phoenix Oolong. It didn't work very well with Sheng Puerh, but is now my dedicated small Phoenix Oolong gaiwan. Also, do note that the gaiwan sometimes heats up in a way that makes the bottom suction to the saucer, so be aware to go a bit slower when lifting the gaiwan so you don't accidentally fling the saucer. I've never actually done it, but I came close a few times when the suction was strong enough for the saucer to go sideways with the pour."

Q&A

Hello! Is this Gaiwan glazed clay or bare? I am interested in it but am wondering if it is good to use for multiple different kinds of tea of if it is the kind of Gaiwan that is best used with one kind of tea and patinas over time.
It's not glazed. You can use it for different types of tea, just avoid using scented teas in it AND rinse it well, letting it dry between sessions.
