This ripe cake is pressed from a wet pile batch made entirely from Meng Song area (Menghai County) tea leaves harvested in 2019 and wet piled in late 2019!

Meng Song ripe tea has a very potent cha qi, with a thick tea soup, dark chocolate like bitterness and fruity sweetness. Pure Meng Song ripe tea is relatively rare. It has a unique bitter-sweet character with a fast hui gan and a touch of licorice sweet after-taste.

For those of you who purchase this tea during the year of 2020 expect that there will be some wet pile taste throughout 2020, but will fade gradually as the tea ages.  Remember pu-erh increases in palatability and complexity with age!  In Chinese we refer to this as 越陈越香.

We are also offering three other Menghai area ripe teas with a similar wrapper (Ba DaJingmai, and Bu Lang)

250 Grams per Cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

Wrapper Designed by David Hunt

Pressed April 20th 2020

Only 100 kilograms in total (400 cakes)

Good

"A good everyday tea, clean taste, nothing overpowering. Enough to feel a gentle heat from ripe Pu Erh"

Cream soda with vanilla extract notes

"Very sweet and creamy. As soon as I smelled the wet leaves, I instantly envisioned a cream soda with vanilla ice cream in a bar glass. This is a very pleasant tea to drink. I got this as a free sample and I'll definitely consider getting a cake the next time I make a purchase."

best sample ever got

"I was always drawn to Mengsong to try mainly raws so this was unexpected and beyond best. No words. Scott just needs to make a video with him sitting in silence and sipping it and folk will get it from his facial bliss. I thought Mojun was paragon of surprise but this beat it big time. I am worried about running out of space in my cupboard and the rest of undrunk raws are going into public park compost."

Unexpectedly WOW

"So I'm not an expert, I'm rather new to Pu erh. I got a sample of this ripe with my order, and I didn't expect anything from it. Now I can't tell much about the taste because, as I said, I'm no expert and my taste buds aren't very honed. It does not have any wet pile taste at all. Which is surprising considering how young it is. It does have a little fishy smell but it doesn't really bother me. Also, I did not wait very long after receiving it to try it (3 days or so). So I just sat there drinking my first cup, halfway through it I'm getting this warm blanket-like feeling from the top of my head down my body. It is awesome. I love it, and unless it has been a fluke of some sort, I will be very, very addicted to it."
