Our fifth year in production "Yi Dian Hong"  aka Little Red is a great choice for a high quality but affordable ripe pu-erh tea from Menghai.

This year's Little Red is made entirely from Nan Nuo mountain ripened tea from spring 2012.  Fermentation process was done in the autumn of 2012 in Menghai town!

Nice balanced taste! Sweet, pungent and slight bitterness all rolled into one tea.  Light-Medium fermentation gives this a subtle cha qi and mouth-watering effect making this a good bet for long-term aging!

100 grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

sweet mint, dark cherries, and cornflower

"I never thought I'd experience this medley of flavors come together in something that is so smooth and creamy, but here we are... The mentholated, camphor-like notes get a little stronger as I work through the session, and eventually cling to the back of the throat, leaving a cooling sensation on the palate in the aftertaste. The dark, tart cherry fruitiness is persistent across the full session and has a nice sensation of depth to it. There's a pinch of cornflower in the mix, it's not very strong, but I like the subtle nature of it, I think it ties the whole flavor profile together pretty well, and it gets louder towards the end. The mouthfeel is pretty light and smooth, but that doesn't mean the flavor profile is thin. On the contrary, I enjoy the light sensation on the palate, it creates an interest contrast against the other ripe pu'erh cakes I have that are much heavier. It's just more awesomeness to explore in the vast world of what makes a good ripe pu'erh good. 7 to 9 grams in my 90mL Duanni clay teapot always returns 10-14 cups that are superb. The evolution of the flavor profile isn't amazing but the consistency of the flavors, cup after cup, really is. $14.50 for 100 grams is a fantastic price. This would make a perfect stocking stuffer!"

Smooth and Creamy!

"This is such a nicely aged ripe! Smooth and creamy, with some cherry notes. I can get 8-9 good steeps out of this!"

Great Price-Quality ratio

"Some nice lingering taste of earth in the back, And at the same time a hint of animal flavour. All not that much, and maybe when stored for 5 years more, some more sweetness, which it lacks now. Very good for this price indeed!"

Great at 5 years of age

"Now gaining its own character at 5 years of age this ripe exceeds expectations. Easy drinking but with nuances to delight and interest even the hardened sheng drinker!"
