Ripe Pu-erh Tea with Yunnan rose buds together in an instant tea resin.  The sweet viscous character of the ripe pu-erh blends with the floral sweet rose taste to create a unique &  smooth easy drinking tea

These heart-shaped tea resin "bricks" are roughly 0.5 grams each and are individually wrapped, making them perfect for making tea on the go. We recommend dissolving these in about 150-300ml of hot water.  These can also be dissolved in cold water as well (might take a bit more time).

Weight: Roughly 0.5 grams each (the weight you choose will include the weight of the foil wrapping which is negligible).

Please note: The color of the foil wrapper may be different than pictured. If in doubt refer to the label on the pouch.

Cha Gao 茶膏 - Instant Pu-erh Tea Resin:

This specialty of Yunnan province uses a technique to take the liquid from the tea leaves and then solidifies the liquid into shapes which can easily be dissolved in water to make tea. 'Cha Gao' literally means 'tea paste' or 'tea resin', and this technique evolved from a process developed in the Tang 唐 and Song 宋 dynasties, while the process of making Pu-erh Cha Gao in particular was enhanced and perfected during the Qing 清 dynasty, which was considered to be the pinnacle of cha gao quality. Unfortunately, imperial techniques employed during the Qing dynasty were lost with the collapse of the Qing dynasty in 1911, and attempts to revive the industry in subsequent decades fell short and the practice of making tea-paste practically vanished. Now, with modern technology it is possible to produce tea resin that is of similar quality to that which was produced during the Qing dynasty. When preparing, pour the water over the ball little by little to allow it time to completely dissolve; some cha gao also require that they be placed into water that has already been poured.

Cha Gao is a highly concentrated Pu-erh tea extract.

Great little parcels …

"These are the best tea resins I have tried so far. Apart from being convenient, they also deliver a flavour profile that comes as close to whole tea leaves as it gets. The amount of rose scent/taste is also just right for me. I ‘brew’ these in a SAMA “MC09” thermal flask, which, by the way, is a marvellous piece of kit, for best results."

"Absolutely LOVE THIS TEA!!! Omg it’s actually the best resin iv tasted I got about 10 different ones to try and they are all soooo good!! Highly recommend buying from these guys they have such a huge selection on resins and they come in super handy metal like ziplock pouch, so easy to throw on in your bag when you want tea 🍵 on the go!"

Convenient office tea

"The rating is heavily focused on how convenient they are for quick and easy tea in the office. Rosebud is my favorite out of several resins I have tried. With hot enough water it only takes a minute or two to dissolve with no worry about oversteeping."

Best hot tea on the run

"All the heart shaped chagao's yunnan carries are great but im partial to this one when I want good hot tea fast. The rose is just right and not overpowering but much better than you'd expect from "instant" tea. Big fan of this one, the gardenia, the jasmine and the sticky rice"

Perfectly balanced

"Perfect balance between sweet but natural rose 🌹 tastes with a strong but not overpowering shou. I’d definitely order this again"

Light sweet rose

"Very sweet, very rosy and very light. It is so sweet and rosy that i sometimes suck it like a sweet. It immediately had me thinking of using it in a dessert. For tea, it presents 2 challenges, it is very light (thin body) and takes so long to dissolve that the tea gets cold. So what i'm doing now is using it to flavor another tea with rose and to get a bit of extra sweetness and caffeine - I drop the lovely little heart of rose in the cha hai and then brew me a nice shu that needs "fixing" and with every pass through the cha hai, it picks up the rose (very pronounced even then) and i have hot cups of tea until it eventually dissolves completely. Works for me!"

"With a sweet and rose floral taste and a strong rose floral smell this tea is really delicious! Love the individual wrapping and the share-ability factor. Gave several of these to friends and co-workers!"

Unique beauty

"This tea tastes like what you first imagined , in ur childhood , that biting a rose would taste like . It is sweet , strongly tastes of rose ,and the puerh being in the background provides this tea with the perfect amount of the complexity you would perhaps smell off a bouquet of roses and other aromatic flowers too . Out of the new cha-gao’s added to YS in the last 1-2 ish months this has by far been my and my mother’s favorite . You can share it on special occasions, with co-workers , or if you want to suddenly find out half of the 50 grams you bought is gone , even your parents ."
