Rou Gui means Cinnamon in Chinese (肉桂茶). It's a varietal of Wu Yi Mountain rock tea that has been around since the Qing Dynasty. First flush of spring tea is picked, wilted, fried, wilted again and then lightly roasted to bring out its subtle bouquet of aromas and tastes.

Our Rou Gui is a medium roast level and can be brewed 7 to 10 times easily using the gong fu method of brewing. The brewed tea produces a golden tea soup with hints of fruit and chocolate. A lovely tea that can accompany you on almost any tea session.

It's a good Oolong

"4 Stars because in my opinion, it's longevity is not as good as promoted. You may get a few more steeps out of it if you start with lower steeping times (around 15s) and use more grams of tea per 100ml than usual. I recommend about 6-7g per 100ml or even more, according to your preference. This way, you get a rewarding session out of it. The aroma and the taste are both quite nice and what you'd expect, dark bitter sweet aromas and funky, exotic fruits. The wet leaves are very fragrant and smell a bit like bitter sweet perfume. Dark chocolate, bitter orange, lots of roasted nuts and even some sage. In the taste, it's quite understated compared to the fragrance. Exotic fruits are the main character, mainly citrus, grapefruits and winter spices. The mouth feel is mellow and medium thick, the whole character of the tea relaxing, while keeping you focused."
