This is a unique tea to be sure. It's pressed into a lovely waffle shaped cake and made from Wild Tree Purple varietal tea (ye sheng cha) growing in Jinggu county. The tea grows wild and is only harvested in March. The tea was processed using the same technique used for Yue Guang Bai, the tea wilts briefly before being put into a long wind tunnel tube, where the action of air movement gradually halts the oxidation of the tea.

The taste is something unique too. There is a lot of complexity, with notes of fruit, flower, sugarcane, and a kind of bitterness that fades quickly. With even a few months of age the bitterness will transform into fruit sweetness with a long lasting after-taste. The tea soup is yellow, and is thick and soupy.

Wild Card

"Great quality leaf. Mellow yet captivating taste, almost no dryness. Very noticeable energy and interesting aftertaste."

Mykhailo D. (5/5)

A fantastic tea, each piece

"A fantastic tea, each piece lasts for several steeps"

Hunter B. (5/5)

Delicious

"This tea is insanely sweet and juicy and grows complex Fairly quickly. The cake breaks easy and steeps nicely. I would buy another cake but my wife keeps reminding me I don't need more tea. My only downside of this tea is I'm only getting about 4-6 infusions. Not a deal breaker"

Sergio (5/5)

Great Flavor

"Love this tea. It’s really flavorful like the description. Just re-purchased. Everything Yunnan Sourcing does is high-quality. The service is great as well."

John T. (5/5)

Molasses and herbs

"Lovely tea with a rich molasses sweetness and great chi. I recommend gaiwan lid to open up the tea brick after a few steeps as it is very tightly pressed"

Zaira (5/5)

Not a white tea to me.

"I feel I wasted 50 bucks on this. I don't tolerate black tea; it makes my ears ring like crazy. Been strictly a white tea drinker. This tastes nothing like a white tea and makes my ears ring like crazy. I've had purple before - this seems more like a black tea to me."

Matt R. (2/5)

Jungle purple moonlight.

"Nice mildly aromatic"

Good

"Nice flavour, but I had trouble getting the leaves to infuse properly. The centre of the little bricks was dry even after 15 infusions"

Edward D. (4/5)

Tasteful

"Very satisfying Tea."

Michel F. (5/5)

If I had to drink one tea for the rest of my life

"If I had to drink one tea for the rest of my life, this is the one. It is floral, fruity, just like the description mentions, and both flavors don't shy away from being quite pronounced. There's also a very specific honey note in there - the kind of honey where you can taste the flowers in it. I absolutely adore this tea!"
