This year's Impression cake is a blend of tea leaves from Spring and Autumn, originating from Mengku, Bang Dong, and Jing Gu tea gardens.

The tea has been grown naturally and processed in the traditional method. We blended various teas together to achieve a powerful blend that has strong mouth feeling, cha qi and a balanced sweet, bitter and astringent profile.

In 2012 I created the first impression blend to be an alternative to a Xiaguan or Da Yi 7542, but it has far surpassed those mass market teas in both quality and value! I also feel strongly that this tea being very strong in aroma, mouthfeel, bitter/astringent, infusibility and Cha Qi, makes it a good choice for long-term aging!

For this price, a steal

"I've had a few different sheng from different vendors by now and this is one of the most enjoyable. It is very affordable. You may think, this is because of poor quality? It is not. It is because this is a blend, so you have no special terroir, no especially long leaves, no hyped provinence to pay. Here, you pay simply for the brew that you get. And the brew is complex, enjoyable, tasty, and will make you brew the next steep while you sip because you love it. Just get it. No regrets."

High astringency, full bodied

"Quite high on astringency, even at 4th 15 second steep. A nice, full bodied soup if you like that sort of thing. Brewed 10g tea in 1dL water at 85˚C"

Ostermann (4/5)

Nice tea.

"Nice tea."

Surprisingly great tasting tea! Well

"Surprisingly great tasting tea! Well balanced in both mouthfeel and astringency. Kept on getting new nuances during the infusions. Already a stable choice in my selection."

New Daily Drinker?

"First time trying the YS "impression". Bought a cake to hold on to for a couple years, but after trying, not sure it will last that long. Good as-is, and I am having a problem removing from rotation!"

Very good young pu-erh

"Keep your steeping times short (<20s for the first brew) and you will get very little if any bitterness."

Value

"As the description says it is a very good balance between bitterness, astringency and sweetness. Wet leaves are still very green which is surprising and the aroma is also very fresh smelling for a 2 year old Raw, i get really nice green tea/hay notes from it that reflect its taste on early steeps."

A good choice for long-term

"A good choice for long-term aging indeed. Soup taste more bodied den 7542"

Bon L. (5/5)

7542? More like... 754 poo!

"Since the tea tries to imitate the 7542, it is only fair to compare them. It is very obvious that the impression cake blows it out of the water. In fact it is better in literally every single capacity. Material, value (current 7542s retail for sometimes over 100, WTF?), taste, cleanliness (tested for pesticides). I mean really, it is a no brainer. The tea is nicely balanced. Even bitterness and astringency with a slight sweetness while still maintaining considerable power. If you're looking for a contemporary puerh to age without sacrificing your mortgage payments, you've found the one."
