This is an aged "Que She" varietal oolong that was harvested in 2012!  It's been re-roasted once since it was harvested!   The flavor is ultra smooth with a spicy mineral sweetness and long lasting velvety mouth-feel.

"Que She" aka Sparrow's Tongue, is natural mutated offspring of a Da Hong Pao varietal growing in Jiu Long Ke for centuries.  It was discovered in the 80's but a Wu Yi local who noticed a couple of the Da Hong Pao bushes in the Jiu Long Ke garden yielded considerably smaller leaves and were also slightly darker in color.  He single batch processed the tea and the result was something quite different from the other Da Hong Pao bushes.  He took cuttings from these two bushes and naming them "Sparrow's Tongue" he propagated them in several other Wu Yi gardens as a distinct varietal.

Our "Que She 928" is from F1 (first generation) bushes growing for about 20 years already.  The tea is expertly processed with medium level of oxidation.  The result is a lovely complex tea with notes of vanilla, carob, and lychee.  This is a tea that can be aged with excellent results.

Addicting

"This is just a great roasty, woody, potent rock oolong. I can only describe it as addicting because I just keep going back for more. The notes aren't incredibly complex, but the few nots that are there are extremely pronounced. Super strong woody flavor and a bit of smokiness. No astringency at all, and very syrupy and smooth mouthfeel. Very thick and satisfying. Great flavors that linger and slowly change into slightly fresher or mineral flavors at the very end in the throat. Very impressed as usual."

Smokey

"I love the Smokey mouth feel of this tea. Notes of chocolate sweetness."

such strength from small leaves

"I am just finishing up the last 25g sample I had over a couple months. I have experienced this as fairly potent in flavor and feel. I typically brew western-style (.8l over 8g at 190-195 for about a minute) I can get two reliable steepings this way sometime three at that volume. There is minerality, woody spice, some fruit. flavors are less complex that some other WuYi varietals, but the intensity seems greater. Notably, this tea seems to coat and cool my throat more and lingers. I don't drink it in the afternoon as it is too lively."
