This is the highest grade of Tie Guan Yin we have ever come across. It's unique to Gan De village and cannot be beaten in terms of taste and aroma. It can be infused many, many times with each infusion yielding a distinctive thick "Guan Yin" aroma and taste. Expansive in the mouth and throat. Being grown naturally and hand-processed at every stage makes this tea best of the best!

We are now offering two styles of processing for this amazing tea!

1.  Gao Xiang - High Aroma (Our Original Offering)

For teas with a high fragrance, the withering time needs to be longer, and the surface of the leaves is more intensely rolled and rubbed. It is also important to control the degree of 'killing the green' and the level of fermentation. The intrinsic substances of the tea leaves pour out in the first few infusions, whether it be the aroma or the soup feel, all concentrated in the first three or four infusions. Therefore, not rinsing the tea and drinking the first brew directly ensures that none of its essence is wasted.

2.  Hua Xiang - Floral Aroma (Newly Offered!)

The fragrance is stronger, more traditional. The withering time is short, and the epidermis of the leaves is not too severely damaged. As long as the shaking and drying process is well controlled in terms of strength and duration, the fragrance will slowly come out. The substances that can dissolve in water do so gradually. Therefore, while the tea soup may appear light, it actually has a charming subtlety and leaves a lingering fragrance in the mouth. Its endurance for multiple infusions is excellent!

Each Harvest is typically Limited to just 20-30 kilograms in total.

"looks a bit too much expensive vs AAA grade."

I've been looking for fresh

"I've been looking for fresh high quality oolong for a long time. I thought Yunnan Sourcing would be legitimate given they show the harvest season and year, but I have been astonished at how delicious and fresh the tea tastes. They'll be my only tea source in the future."

As always, my favorite Chinese green oolong.

"This tea, as usual, never disappoints year after year. It's my favorite Chinese green oolong. What confused me at the beginning is that there are always small broken bits in this tea, which made me think I'd made a mistake. But after one taste I couldn't care less if it were all in pieces, as long as it delivered as it does! I use this tea to help newbies appreciate gungfu cha."

Great Tie Guan Yin Tea

"It is difficult to write a review about a tea of such a high level. I really liked the tea. The tea is serious, thoughtful, and it is important to understand it in its dynamics: the dry leaf, the heated leaf, and the empty bowl after drinking the tea. I will describe my impression of the Gao Xiang - High Aroma tea. The taste is thick, very rich, aromatic, light, and pleasant. In general, the taste is classic for Tie Guan Yin, but it is more complex, deeper, and individual, unlike other Tie Guan Yins, and it reveals its nuances with each infusion. The tea leaves are of high quality. The aftertaste is long, sweet, and refreshing. I tasted notes of lilac, orchid, acacia, peach, apricot, honey, creamy caramel, spices, and wildflowers. After drinking the tea, I felt energized, deeply relaxed, and calm, with clarity of thought and focus for my work. It was an excellent tea."

I regularly drink Tie Guan

"I regularly drink Tie Guan Yin, but this is a bit different. I'm drinking it for the first time now. It has the same general Tie Guan Yin flavour, maybe a little less flowery, but that is balanced by a fuller, broader feeling. I really like it, from the first to (so far) the fourth infusion."

Very delicious green TGY

"I ordered both the old style and the new to see how they would compare. Sometimes when you taste two versions of the same tea they can be so similar, it’s hard to tell if there’s any difference between them at all. This time though, it’s pretty apparent: the old version (Gao Xiang) is still the same explosion of taste it used to be, with an intense aroma of lilac and mowed grass. I still enjoy it very much. It’s a bit more long-lasting than the product description gives it credit for: I can get about 8 good infusions out of it. The new version (Hua Xiang) is similar but far more subtle. maybe too subtle for me. It’s more long-lasting than the old version, but I’d rather have 8 strong infusions than 12 delicate ones. I’ll stick with the old version from now, if you like your TGY delicate, the new one may be right for you."

Very good tea!

"Very good tea! I infused it gong fu style and even drinking the short first infusion (that is usually discarded) was worth it. All the TGY hallmarks are there and are very well developed: it is floral, sugary, creamy, etc..."

2023: Spring Gao Xiang amazing, all others horrible

"Generally I'm amazed about the extremely great value for money of almost all YS teas, bit in this case I was extremely surprised to find a mix of great and very disappointing batches. Brewed in Xiamen (Fujian) with excellent water. I have tried them all: Gao Xiang Spring 2023 - exceptional tea, absolutely 5* Dry smell: caramel Alpenliebe, wet smell: fermented vegetables Tasting notes: sweet floral with acidic notes, coating mouthfeel, warming throat, develops sweetness after multiple brews Gao Xiang Autumn 2023 - average tea tea, horrible at this price point, 2* Dry/wet smell: foul vegetables caramel Tasting notes: typical floral TGY with an unbearable sour taste developing after the third brew Hua Xiang Spring 2023 - average tea tea, horrible at this price point, 2* Tasting notes: typical floral TGY with a very strong and harsh mouthfeel Hua Xiang Autumn 2023 - goodish tea if it were a $80/kg, at this price point 3* Tasting notes: typical floral TGY, with citrusy notes and autumn sweetness"
