This is a Spring 2022 Di Jie Village area old plantation harvest tea. The tea was wet piled during the summer of 2022 and then aged in Mengku until it was pressed in July of 2023.

Di Jie Village is a Mengku area (Lincang) village that produces potent teas that are suitable for long term aging (both ripe and raw). Di Jie is a neighbor to Bingdao, Ba Wai, and Nuo Wu villages.

Our Di Jie ripe is a small batch wet pile, which was carefully overseen by master Li Zi Yan. Only 800 kilograms were produced, of which we were able to obtain 100 kilograms for this pressing!

The tea is rich, thick, with both bitter and fruity sweet notes. It goes many steeps and has a long lasting mouth-feeling and aroma!

357 Grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

Pressed on July 12th 2023

Rich fruity aroma

"My review of this tea is virtually the same as Fabian S .with an exception when it comes to the flavor profile. Indeed it has a very nice fruity aroma, however I don’t taste any fruit. Instead, the dominant flavors I taste are Ceylon cinnamon initially with blonde fudge in the background. It’s very close to a luxury tea. I can think of one competitor’s tea (not in the UK) that is very close to this in profile and the price is $155 for a 200g cake."

Fruity and aromatic

"If you like fruity ripes, this is a must try. Good value for money. Pronounced fruity taste. Quite aromatic and smooth, with some sweetness and a tiny hint of bitterness. Some drying astringency. Long lasting cooling mouthfeel. Very nice level of medium to medium-heavy fermentation, rich ripe profile while retaining lots of aromatics. I prefer my ripes to be a little more heavy and bitter, and less astringent, but this is well above average and I imagine most people would really like this tea."
