Entirely old arbor tea from early Spring 2020! Tea leaves taken from oldest tea trees (100 to 200 years old) growing on Mang Fei mountain in Yong De county of Lincang. Full and stout one leaf to one bud ratio tea leaves. Mang Fei wild arbor tea has pronounced hairy buds and stout stems. The brewed leaves are a dark olive color.

The brewed tea is strong and full in the mouth with some astringency (as is typical of Lincang teas). The tea soup has a strong heavy aroma and cha qi. The tea can easily be brewed 10 times or more and still give off flavor. Incredibly high quality spring tea, which is strong, potent and very infusable!

Each cake is stone-pressed by traditional method and dried with low temperature air drying.

Each tong of 7 cakes is wrapped in bamboo leaf!

Reviews

strong and sweet

"Only two and a half (ish) years old, this tea is already very strong all-around. I can get 10+ cups if I keep the steep times short, which this tea seems to respond well to. The cake itself is awesome. High-quality material, great level of compression that breaks apart easily, nice pungent aroma on the dry leaf. In the cup, there's a good balance of earthy and mineral notes with slight floral and subtle fruity undertones that evolve nicely from beginning to end of the session. About halfway through, a very prominent honey-like sweetness starts to build in the mouth from the back of the throat. It's like pine sap, it really sticks to the throat and has some herbaceous character to it that helps bring another dimension into the aftertaste along with the sweetness. I always get a very distinct note of pear in the last cup. This tea has great terroir and a powerful cha qi. The last few cups are awesome. I really like how clean and crisp the finish of this tea is, especially considering how strong and pungent it is pretty much all the way through."

Yum

"Yummy, nice scent in empty cut. Tastes like puer, smells great, affordable!"

Potent and complex.

"This is a potent tea both in taste and cha qi for me. Definitely one to put away in my pumidor for a few years."

Nice Tea!

"I like the tea. In the first infusions it was mild and bitter. Once you swallow the soup you are rewarded with huigan. The finish tastes like vegetables. Then after the 7th infusion, the flavor became a bit more complex and deeper. I did not find the astringency to be bothersome. It definitely fit the bill. The cha qi was also very pleasant and it had a very warming effect on me."

Very Bitter

"I tried infusing for 30 seconds with boiling water and it was so bitter that it was undrinkable. I haven't tried again but I suggest trying very fast infusing times."
