Hei Jin Gang clay is a blend of Zi Ni (Purple Clay) and Bao Lan Zhu Ni.  It's dark in color with some purple and brown with a small amount of sand mixed in.  Porous and perfect for seasoning with Pu-erhs or Oolongs.  It's also good for Hei Cha (like Fu Brick, Tian Jian or Liu Bao).

Volume is 140ml (+/- 10ml)

Artist's Name and Background:  Xia Cai Hong is a graduate of the Yixing Academy of Clay Arts.  She's from a teapot crafting family that's been creating works of art in Yixing for three generations.  Her favorite teapot styles are "Fang Gu" and "Rong Tian".  Her father Xia Fu Ru is now retired but worked in Yixing Factory #1 starting in the 1970's after the end of the Cultural Revolution.

Every pot is hand-made and the artisan will sometimes change the stamps they use. There may also be some slight differences in the color, handle shape, and volume. It's not possible for us to re-take the pictures for each new batch of teapots that we receive from this artisan. Some differences in the color and shininess of the actual teapot you receive as compared to the one in the photographs may also be due to light conditions when the photographs are taken. Thanks for your understanding!

"Feels good to use, the lid fits very snug and the kettle adds a nice mineral taste while it makes the teas taste more refined"

Lovely quality, great for 2 pax!

"Loved it! Right size for 2 people, good quality, nice zing when you open the lid or softly knock the lid against the pot. Sadly I broke it. :("

Not entirely satisfied

"Good teapot. Unfortunately, the lid leaks when pouring tea and the clay is apparently not that pourous, so it "flattens" tea taste. I had another one delivered also made of Hei Jin Gang clay that is great - but the look, feel and taste is very different. I use it for shu pu and did a 48h seasoning in simmering water."

Amazed ! Beautyfull shape, increadible clay ! Review by Anonymous User

"Edit on y review just below : Also incredible thickening, makes the texture very soft, syrupy and heavy ; excellent poor, excellent lid seal."

Amazed ! Beautyfull shape, increadible clay !

"The shape : I picked this one because other shapes where sold out, and at first I was a bit sceptical... but upon receiving it, i began to like it more and more. Oh man, I really really like it now ! The clay : Just wow. I've tasted it against porcelain a lot, or with teas I knew well ; the effect it as on middle-aged-Sheng is just exellent, and surprisingly, it changes through infusions ! On the fist few, it sweetens a lot the heavier parts of the taste, highliting the lighter aromas (it is incredibly sweet) ; on the middle of the way, it still rounds out the taste, maybe losing just a bit of the top notes ; and as you progress to the later part of the session, I was very surprised to discover a new life in my teas, with some aspects I didn't notice earlier ! Instead of just becoming astringent, it develops something new. In the end, it made me push the tea longer than with porcelain, still enjoying it. My hopes where not that high at fist seeing the price of the pot was not as frightening as most other trusted-vendors-yixing, but it seems I was wrong ! It seems to be just excellent. If other have dome more tests against more pricy yixing, I'd be curious to hear your reviews !"
