Mild flavor

"I've loved many of the puerh teas I've bought on this site, but this was not one of my favorites. It's milder and less flavorful than I like, with none of the earthy, metallic notes that make puerh so distinctive. I've found that the older teas I've ordered packed way more punch. It might also have more taste if I used more and brewed it longer than I do other puerhs. That said, it's tasty enough and good value, especially if you prefer a subtler, softer tea."

Thick sweet and bitter ripe

"This ripe has a nice tartness/sourness similar to the year of the dog blue label. Later steeping reveal how thick and oily the tea is and becomes nice and bitter sweet. Lasts a surprising amount of brews considering the viscosity. After finishing the session I checked the price and was shocked to see the price was only 36 dollars. From the session I had asked the price was in the fifties. Well done to Scott!"

What I can say so far concerning "Golden Ox" ripe Pu-erh Tea Cake.

"Order came in a timely manner. I'm working through a couple of other ripe Pu-erhs, so it will be a few weeks to a month or two before I get to taste it. Try me again in March if you want a review based on taste."

Ho Hum

"another fantastic ripe from Scott and friends - this one has the best of Bada and Bulang - slightly sweet and chocolately, buy it! $32 is a steal frankly"

Nutty, delicious ripe pu'erh

"I'm normally a sheng pu'erh drinker, but recently tried a shou pu'erh I bought in Hong Kong back in 2018, and was delighted by how the tea aged. This put me back onto the ripe stuff. Looking for a tea that gave me that same pleasure, I bought this one. It delivered. It has a strong nutty taste with a good cha chi, and brews a dark, almost coffee-like color on first and second steep. Like most ripe pu'erh, you can only get a few steeps out of it before it starts to weaken. But the flavor and color on this stays robust for at least three."

Strong and woody

"If you like your shu strong and woody, here it is. In the earlier infusions I elicited some bitterness, but it wasn’t overwhelming - really balanced with the oak-like sweetness. I got notes of vanilla sometimes, and a teeny bit of roughness, mostly due to the tea being young and the small leaves. The tea is well bodied, similar in body to the sunrise symphony red tea. This tea lasted 9 infusions in my session - it could go much further judging by the flavors, I just stopped early. With age, this tea will be very, very nice."
