Classic production pressed in the Yi Liang tea factory just outside of Kunming. 7561 is considered a "tippy grade" recipe. The bricks have been dry aged in a Kunming warehouse for 14 years!

The brewed leaves yield alot of complexity and a good mix of astringency/sourness with a smooth and sweet finish. The tea soup is thick in the mouth with and almost 'citrusy' feeling that lingers in the back of the mouth, like after eating several tangerines. Very crisp and clean with no traces of moldiness, dankiness or other storage problems. Gives a tingling sensation and a has solid cha qi.

250 grams per brick, sample available!

2000 CNNP 7561 Aged Raw Pu-erh Tea Brick

"Very nice aged raw pu-erh. Would definitely recommend."

A little too smoky for me

"Even after a thorough rinse, quite a bit of smoke is noted in the aroma, overwhelming some nice light dried fruit. The smoke continues in the mouth as the dominant component, with some nice complexity of flavors related to age. If you don't mind smoky aroma and flavor, some nice aging here."

Excellent Old Factory Sheng

"I used 7grams per 100ml at 100c, and brewed to suit my tastes of slightly stronger tea for this session. Review: Man, old CNNP is always a pleasant surprise for me-- I'm drinking a sample of this I just purchased and I feel forced to log in to write a review. This is good quality tea, first of all, that includes a fair bit of chopped/broken leaf as it is brick tea, but the quality is really, really good. There's a smokey character that has been tamed after 20 years, but just right to my tastes. There's a leather character, but again, subtle. The prominent flavor is sweet fruits. If you've ever fruits like, peach, or pineapple, which have been grilled over charcoal, and not only caramelized but have the smoke of the grill imparted onto it, that's sort of like what's happening with this tea. The real stand out element of this tea is that-- how the aging was impeccable, humid enough to create those ultra-sweet dried/caramelized fruit vibes, but not so humid that there's any trace mushroomy/stereotypically wet storage component. Amazing balance here as well, the fruit is in front for sure, but you have a little bit of everything-- bitter, sweet, sour, that slightly salty leathery element. Already getting great energy after 4 steepings, so I'm sure this will satisfy most aged sheng drinkers unless they consider traces of smoke to be an absolute deal-breaker. This was me at one time, but I'd actually say give *this* tea a try with a sample if you feel this way and it could be the tea to change your mind because just the balance, complexity, and how carefully the bricks have been aged in just the right environment, are worth experiencing."

Fantastic Tea

"Very happy with this purchase. Complex flavors, redolent of wood and leather. Would recommend"

"This is the raw puer that will be my undoing.. I'm still in the heavy sampling stage of my tea journey and this is the first tea I've had that made me feel, "I need to make sure I can drink more of this." Not only does it have a wonderful flavor and sweet soup, it put me in a very sensitive and loving place while drinking it. Will buy again, thanks Scott."

Q&A

where did the tea age the last 6 years, since it is 20 years old and was stored 14 years in Kunming? Also, given the current shipping situation, is there a special wrapping that prevents the tea from picking up unwanted flavours during its 3-4 month journey (shipment by land and ship)?
It's been aged in Kunming for the entire time. It will be sealed in a food grade plastic ziplock to protect it during the shipping process. After a long journey we recommend you remove it from the plastic ziplock and store in your pu-erh storage for several weeks to give it time to acclimate after being sealed off during its journey.
