De Hua "Jade Porcelain" (玉瓷) is a special process that involves very high firing temperatures to create a semi-translucent porcelain that is very uniform and able to transmit light and color with a wonderful effect.

One of my all time favorite cups

"Let me preface by saying I have LOTS of teaware, including many cups more expensive than this one. Although it's not the most detailed, colorful, or flashy teacup in any way, this is still one of my all time favorite cups. I love the small size, which lets the tea cool down quite quickly, and the weight of the this piece makes it a joy to hold. It gives me all the benefits of white porcelain, letting me analyze and enjoy the color of the tea, but it also has its own simple beauty that makes it mesmerizing to look at. It also matches whatever funky teapot I'm pairing it with. Whenever I take the time to admire the translucency of the cup, it reminds me of what high temperatures are required to produce this effect, which makes it very special to me. When filled with tea, the partial translucency makes this cup glow with warm colors. It just makes me happy! Boy, am I glad I bought this simple, beautiful product."
