A lovely aged Da Hong Pao from Wu Yi Mountains in Fujian.  This has been lightly roasted just two times over the course of more than a decade and then stored in a good clean condition.  The result is a complex tea with powerful cha qi.

The early brews have a strong mineral and oily cannabis sweetness, with a dried fruit after-taste.  There is some roast taste from the 2020 re-roast done on this tea, but it's subtle and won't be noticeable at all soon. In the later infusions the roasted taste fades more and the fruit, mineral sweetness and velvety smoothness takes center stage.  The tea goes 10+ infusions and remains complex and interesting.

This tea was harvested in 2008!

We also offer a 2006 Da Hong Pao here!

Smooth Drinker Light Roast Flavor

"Smooth with a light roast. Kept the steeps on the shorter side to enjoy a smooth light taste for a full day of enjoyment."

Unique and light

"Beautiful nose and lovely complexity. Expected a fuller body and deeper tasting roast, but it ends up being more of a dry smoked flavor. Very interesting addition to a collection, but not an every day drinker for me."

Nicholas D. (4/5)

Great color and taste.

"Big Red Robe teas were my first tea, ever. I have a special place in my heart for them. This variant is delicious!"

Eric A. (5/5)

Very interesting tea

"Very interesting tea. I actually found it less rich than an unaged Da Hong Pao, but with more complexity. Beautiful colors and fragrance."

Paul G. (5/5)

Goes well with flowers

"More smooth than a typical Oolong to begin with, it has a subtle complexity when steeped with chrysanthemum buds. Today I also tried it with a sprig of mint blossoms, which made an outstanding rich & smooth drink"

Drew (4/5)

Aged is better!

"Recently tried this alongside a couple newer Da Hong Pao, and this I liked better! All the good of Oolong but mellower!"
