A lovely aged ripe pu-erh made from fermented Mengku area material.  Fermented in 2007 and then aged in Jinggu County before being pressed in 2012.  Aged another 2 years in Jinggu township before being wrapped in paper and then packed in these lovely sturdy beige gifting boxes.

Tea is very smooth and difficult to overbrew.  Camphor, mushroom and sweet taste in a clear burgundy tea soup.  Leaf grade ranges from 9 to grade 3, it's probably an average grade 7 much like a 7572 production, or a 7562 tea brick.

Perfect tea for gifting, daily drinking, re-sale or serving in a tea house.  Complex without being overpowering.

Great selection of my favorite

Very good and easy to brew

"I received a small sample of this with my last order (Thanks YS!) and brewed it in a gaiwan. The small cake I received was very easy to work with and didn't turn to dust when separating it. Fairly pleasant aroma with no off smells like some young ripe tea. Tea and wet leaves smelled earthy and sweet with an almost fruity note to them. The taste was more simple than I expected, but very nice. Started with cacao powder, then turned to a soft sweet mushroom earthiness. The tea went quite a few steeps and never got bitter, very easy to get good results however you brew your tea. Overall a very nice tea. I would recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing aged ripe pu-erh"

Loved it

"Beautiful balanced flavours, slight sweetness and damp forest. Calming. Best when cool. For what it's worth, I had no problem with any smells on opening it."

First experience with higher-end shou

"I was nervous at first, because when I opened my sample packet, I got some rather off, sour smells coming from the tea. After 2 days of letting it air out, the sour smell faded somewhat. The wash took some more of the sour out as well. The tea is soft and delicate (I didn't get any of that sourness even on the first cup). Some earthiness and a little bit of milk chocolate notes on the first cup. The second cup has more of that dark brown shou color. The aroma is more earthy and I'm getting a hint of porcini mushroom. Tastewise, we've gone full baking chocolate with a topping of mushroom. This is becoming quite lovely. Third steep in, and now we're rockin'...earth coming into contact with leather, there's some sweetness on the back end, some nice fermented notes on the finish as well. For a score, I'm knocking off one star because of that off smell when I initially opened the package, but it's a solid tea all around."
