Huang Jin Gui (Golden Turtle) is another varietal of Anxi Oolong tea. Lacking the slight sour-bitterness of Tie Guan Yin, it is characterized by a smooth sweet flavor with a rich slightly nutty after-taste. Our Premium grade is the highest grade of Huang Jin Gui that is normally available!

"It is anxi. . . no doubt about it! It is my favorite one!"

Best Oolong I've tried

"Got this in the Next Steps sampler. Really incredible floral fragrance from this tea as soon as the water hits it. Very fresh, lightly oxidized oolong with some nice depth. Couldn't stop drinking this one and will definitely be getting some more."

Smooth

"Floral, vegetable notes, great for mornings and summer days. Smooth, creamy aftertaste. Fair price for a good quality tea that won't blow your mind but you can enjoy daily."

"This Anxi "Huang Jin gui" (golden turtle from Anxi province) is a steal. Delicious and bright. I first came to this tea seeking to broaden my knowledge of light, Anxi-style oolongs, and this did not disappoint. In comparison to Tieguanyin; the floral character is more full -- instead of a clear orchid hui gan, there is a full bouquet centered more on violet; the sour note is largely absent, and metallic note muted; and the qi of the tea is more well-rounded and calm. My leaves were somewhat darker than most Tieguanyin I've had While I haven't had any other golden turtle, this stands out among Anxi-style oolongs as a soft & approachable beauty, and seduces me every time"

"Nothing too special; a great everyday tea!"

Soft and subtle

"A soft and rounded oolong in that no particular note stands out above others. Not sharp, not acidic, not floral, not green. Just a mellow classic oolong with an equally mellow feel. Mellow is the word."

"Good tea taste perhaps a little more acidic than I prefer however my brewing process has to be examined and I will taste test again. It happens sometimes that the first taste isn't the reality."

"Nutty, buttery and vegetal. I drink it quite often while working, something I can drink and not have to pay too much attention to, but still be very enjoyable."
