State Protected Forest) is a small area between Yi Wu town and Mengla town in the Yi Wu Mountains at an elevation of 1650 meters that is protected forest and is an animal reserve.  In the early 1990's there was a small village in the forest, but were made to leave by the government when they set up the protected forest resevere there.  As part of the relocation deal the Mengla County government made a deal with local villagers allowing them to pick tea twice a year for 10 days each harvest.  The rest of the year tea cannot be picked.  No roads in or out of this area.  Very biologically diverse with lots of plants and animals, not to mention old tea trees growing naturally.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere is a deep and complex \"yun wei\" and the tea seems to take on a life of it's own in the mouth and throat.  This is an incredibly unique large leaf style assamica tea that will impress even the most discriminating sheng aficionado! \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis tea was compressed in a small tea factory in Yi Wu town where unusually large 40 kilogram stone presses were used. Suddenly, the flesh ball burst open, and a boy jumped out, glowing with radiance. Li Jing was displeased, but a Taoist named Taiyi came to congratulate him. Taiyi named the child Nezha, took him as a disciple, and immediately gifted him two treasures: the Universe Ring (Qiankun Circle) and the Red Armillary Sash (Hun Tian Ling).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen Nezha was seven years old, there was a drought, and the Dragon King of the East Sea withheld rain. The Dragon King even sent his minions to capture boys and girls from the seaside at night. The tea is not from cloned purple plants but rather is collected from the purple tinged leaves and stem trees that grow alongside the non-purple tea trees in the same garden. This area of Bang Dong is very sunny and high altitude with southern facing slopes and as such has a high incidence of naturally occurring purple mutations (around 15-20% of the trees in this area). \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eThe purple tea of Bang Dong is not quite the same as Yi Wu and Jinggu area purple teas that are more purple when fresh and darker black in color after processing into mao cha. The Bang Dong area \"zi cha\" (lit. purple tea) has purple stems and some purple tinging on the leaves. The tea is tippy and healthy and is covered with downy silver fur. The raw material is almost entirely intact leaf and bud sets and so stone-compression was used to preserve the natural beauty of this tea. \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe brew itself is full and round.
