{"title":"2022 Yunnan Sourcing Brand Pu-erh Tea","description":"","products":[{"product_id":"2019-yunnan-sourcing-man-gang-tea-flowers-white-tea-cake","title":"2019 Yunnan Sourcing \"Man Gang Tea Flowers\" White Tea Cake","description":"\u003cp\u003eA lovely old arbor (古树白茶) white tea cake made from Spring 2019 tea harvested from 80-300 year old tea trees in Man Gang village (Bang Dong, Lincang), and then blended with tea flowers 茶花 from the same garden!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have been working closely with a family in Man Gang for several years now and have asked them to help us pick and process a white tea and blend with tea flowers from the same garden from their old arbor family tea garden!  The result is a lightly processed and sun-dried white tea that is delicious to drink, sweet and thick, aromatic, and bubbling with cha qi!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis lovely tea was pressed into a 250 gram tea cake with a medium+ level of compression to lock in the aroma and flavors of tea, allowing for a gradual aging over time.  You can store like you would a pu-erh cake (and can be stored alongside raw pu-erh or black tea cakes), or if you prefer it to stay the way it is you can seal it up.  Ideally a clay jar or wooden box with some\/minimal air flow would be best!  We do recommend that you store in a low humidity environment to prevent the hatching of larvae.  No pesticides were used on the tea or tea flowers which means that if the cake is stored in high heat and high humidity it could lead to larvae hatching on the tea flowers. State Protected Forest) is a small area between Yi Wu town and Mengla town in the Yi Wu Mountains at an elevation of 1650 meters that is protected forest and is an animal reserve.  In the early 1990's there was a small village in the forest, but were made to leave by the government when they set up the protected forest resevere there.  As part of the relocation deal the Mengla County government made a deal with local villagers allowing them to pick tea twice a year for 10 days each harvest.  The rest of the year tea cannot be picked.  No roads in or out of this area.  Very biologically diverse with lots of plants and animals, not to mention old tea trees growing naturally.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere is a deep and complex \"yun wei\" and the tea seems to take on a life of it's own in the mouth and throat.  This is an incredibly unique large leaf style assamica tea that will impress even the most discriminating sheng aficionado! \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis tea was compressed in a small tea factory in Yi Wu town where unusually large 40 kilogram stone presses were used. Low temperature (35C) “baking” was used to dry these cakes after the compression process thus preserving their integrity!  We have delayed sales of this cake for more than 4 weeks to allow the water vapor from pressing to dissipate. The flavor is textured and thick with a strong almost chocolate-like after-taste. This is one of the more smooth and aromatic of the Yi Wu area teas. This tea was compressed in a small tea factory in Yi Wu town where unusually large 40 kilogram stone presses were used. Camellia Taliensis growing in Jing Gu's red soil has prominent large fat leaves and hairy white buds. Tea from this region is well-known for it's beautiful appearance, and tea sellers have been know to blend this tea with Yi Wu tea to make it (Yi Wu tea) more beautiful and bright in appearance while at the same time bolstering it's sweetness and thickness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eWe visited this tea garden in mid-February 2010 (Chinese New Year time) and made contact with the village leaders who manage this village cooperative tea garden. When we went the weather was dry, and the soil had been mulched and turned just two weeks before. This tea garden contains trees between 60 and 350 years old, it is near the village and has been tended for hundreds of years. This year because of dry conditions water was brought in and ladled at the base of these trees by hand. It is a lovely example of a cooperatively run and owned tea garden and one that has been tended lovingly by its participants. The tea here is sought by many producers and the Yang Ta co-op is able to sell all of its tea at prices that allow them to live a comfortable lifestyle.
