Wu Yi Shan “Sheng Tai” Naturally Grown Rou Gui Rock Oolong Tea
Rou Gui (肉桂, lit. “cinnamon”) is one of Wu Yi’s flagship cultivars, grown on the mountain since the Qing Dynasty. It’s famous for its spicy, cinnamon-bark aroma and bold, lively character. This lot is “Sheng Tai” (生态), meaning naturally grown. The bushes are farmed without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, and are allowed to grow with minimal intervention among wild plants. The result is a cleaner, more vibrant Rou Gui with real depth and plenty of energy.
Why it’s special
- Naturally grown Rou Gui from Ma Tou Yan, tended and picked by hand. Grown without herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers.
- Long, well-twisted dark leaves with flashes of olive and gold, a sign of careful hand processing.
- Bright, clear amber-orange liquor that pours like liquid honey.
- Wet leaves open up green with reddish-brown edges, the classic sign of well-managed oxidation.
- Spicy, sweet, and mineral, with the bold personality Rou Gui fans love.
