We are proud to offer a Certified Organic Green Tea from Yunnan.  This tea was grown in the area of Simao and was harvested in April. 

Pine Needles (松针绿茶) is a 1 Leaf to 1 Bud picking style of Yunnan Green tea, which is a "Yun Kang #10" varietal growing at an altitude of 1300 meters (4300 feet) on the southern slope Ma Wei Mountain (just west of Pu'Er City).  The processing is typical of green tea with sun withering, rolling, oxidization, and finally drying. 

This is a classic "robust" style Yunnan Green Tea, a 1 leaf to 1 bud plucking style.  It's floral, beany, grassy and sweet when brewed carefully.  We recommend brewing gong fu style (short steepings at first) using 85C water and 4 grams per 100ml vessel. It can be brewed 6 to 8 times gong fu style, which is a lot for a green tea!

Pine Needle Tea is not pine needle tea

"You'll need to read the labels carefully. I bought 24 bags of the pine needle tea, because it was called Organic Pine Needle Tea. After receiving them, I found out that it is simply green tea they named pine needle tea. They may have named it this before white pine needle tea was found to be beneficial for covid, but even if they did, they should change the name of the tea or at the very least put a large disclosure saying it's not pine needle tea, that's it's just green tea. If someone is relying on it to relieve symptoms of covid, it could mean their life. That doesn't set well with me."

Robust Yunnan Green

"A robust yunnan green tea — moderately aromatic with sweet, grassy flavor and slightly astringent finish at the back of the tongue. Makes this tea a nice beverage on its own or with a lightly salted snack of melon seeds. I’ve even brewed this tea strong and made Japanese wakame ochazuke with it. These needles are good for many steepings — a relatively modest amount makes a lot of tea!"
