This ripe cake is pressed from a wet pile batch made entirely from the Zhenkang area of Lincang. The tea leaves were harvested in 2023 and wet piled in late 2023! The tea is grown on rocky steep hills at an altitude of 1500-1600 meters. Due to its unique growing conditions this tea has a certain rock and mineral character to it. Sweet, thick in the mouth with a long smooth after-finish.

For those of you who purchase this tea during the year of 2024 expect that there will be some wet pile taste throughout 2024, but will fade gradually as the tea ages. Remember that pu-erh increases in palatability and complexity with age! In Chinese we refer to this as 越陈越香.

357 Grams per Cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

More expensive puerhs from YS are much better

"The sample was good. But I didn’t like the cake. I liked “village” notes in the sample but somehow didn’t like them in the cake. They feel cleaner in the cake so the lack of nice flavors becomes evident. I LOVE ripe puerhs from YS, but this one is not my fav. But I completely understand that some people who like this taste palette will enjoy the tea a lot."

An update to my review where I gave 3 starts

"I brewed 5 gr of this tea in a 400 gr vacuum flask for 1 hour. The result was AWESOME. Nutty, soft, a bit mineral. Very very tasty!"

Youthful promis

"I generally don't go for less than three years aging on my pu-erh teas, but this was a sample included with another order. Two other reviewers have done a good job describing it - what I noticed was the promise of great depth and complexity, like a very young Bordeaux. Nice aftertaste on the lips."

A unique tea

"I really enjoyed this tea after the sample so I ordered the whole cake a few days later. The tea has some earthiness and mushrooms in the taste. And I feel A LOT of nuts in the taste after 4th or 5th steep, specifically walnut septum. Very very interesting tea, I would say even unique."

Free Sample Turned To Wishlist

"I recently unboxed a decently sized order and received this little guy in a 10 gram sample. And WOW, I'm really surprised. I was expecting more wet pile taste, but it's not that strong. I'm not the best at describing flavors but my brews have been rich and dark with strong hui gan that makes me think of stuffed mushrooms. It's earthy and just so good. With this warming touch of qi, like being wrapped in blanket by your favorite person. I will 1000% be ordering more of this and deeply appreciate the sample I received. <3"
