This is an early Gao Jia Shan production consisting of wild tea grown in the Yun Tai mountain area of An Hua county in Hunan at an altitude of 1000 meters. Although this is labeled a "Fu Zhuan" it's devoid of golden flowers and acts a bit more like a "Hei Cha Zhuan".

Stored in An Hua, Hunan since its production in 2009 this has aged into a thoroughly enjoyable and complex tea. The brewed tea has a molasses and tobacco aroma with a hint of smoke and the taste is sweet, fruity and creamy. It also has something akin to an aged dry Guangdong stored raw pu-erh tea. Cha Qi is strong!

Part of the Gao Jia Shan "Wild Tea" series ( in addition to this one 2012 Gao Jia Shan "Wild Tian Jian" in a Bamboo Basket).

2009 Pressing

400 Grams per brick

Gao Jia Shan is both a place and the name of the tea factory brand that produced this lovely tea.  Gao Jia Shan as a producer doesn't have as long of a history as Yi Yang and Bai Sha Xi tea factories but nonetheless produces very high quality Fu Brick tea processed in the traditional manner.

ALLERGEN ALERT!!!    Because there is a possibility the golden flowers were inoculated using wheat flour we cannot guarantee this tea is safe for those with Celiac Disease or those that have severe gluten induced allergies

**Wrappers may be bug-bitten and there may be a small amount of dust and detritus. If you are squeamish please don't order this tea! We will not accept returns for replacement/refund for bitten/torn wrappers!

Blew My Mind

"Gave me everything I love about Fu and Heicha overall, smokey, tobacco/earthy flavor; absolute please to drink. Buying a brick next time!"

I bought this blindly after

"I bought this blindly after it was recommended by a poster on an anonymous diving forum. I don't know much about tea, but I love the flavor and will be purchasing a brick."

I have been exploring Yunnan

"I have been exploring Yunnan teas for about a year and this is my first fu tea. I typically gravitate toward chocolatey and fruity ripe teas. fu is a fascinating mixture of qualities of ripe and raw teas. It is slightly less tannic than a typical raw, with more of an amber color in the initial steeps like a ripe. This is a beautiful tea to observe over the course of a gongfu session as its color and neurophysiological fx alter. It is great as a second tea in the afternoon after doing a ripe in the morning, does not disturb sleep. Enveloping 滑潤mouth feel."

Excellent

"This is a very comforting tea with an interesting mouthfeel. The texture is sticky, buttery, quite thick and at times bubbly. Compared to most other hei cha on the market, it seems to also produce longer sessions. In a preheated gaiwan, I get a peaty mineral scent. Once the leaves open up, there is a distinctive and unexpected banana aroma, complemented notes of wood, raisins, rice paper and parsley. First infusion is sweet and woody, while the second tastes also of barley and licorice root. Third steep brings light plum tartness and subsequently the tea becomes quite mineral and herbaceous. Towards the end, however, the experience is dominated by sweetness that at times resembles winter honey. In conlusion, the tea is easily one of the best fu zhuan I’ve tried. It is on the more expensive side of the spectrum, but the full body, moderately complex profile and good longevity justify its price for sure."

"Лессной" хейча

"Пахнет лесом. Мягкий аромат. Очень приятный вкус."

Great first foray into Fu Zhuan

"This was only my second foray into hei cha (the first being 2002 aged wild liu bao "803"). I am seriously considering buying a full brick. It has similar flavors and aromas to an aged puerh, but at a price that is affordable, relatively speaking. Strong notes of smoke and leather, and a little bitter dark chocolate. The image that comes to mind is sitting in a library in Yorkshire, surrounded by leather-bound books, wearing a smoking jacket while sitting in my grandfather's chair he had commissioned while in India fighting for Queen Victoria. Yes, the Qi is strong with this one, folks."

百喝不厌

"微微烟香,口感甘甜醇厚,杯底留果香,是我喜欢的茯茶,开水冲泡凉却后冷饮也是不错的。"
